Commercial Description:
Unblended lambic, max. 1 year old.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Lindemans Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Lindemans Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik". If in doubt, message JorisPPattyn.

This lambic was about a year old, so I’ll rate it as jonge lambic. Litre swing top bottle, poured by the friendly brewer from one of his wooden casks. Faded orange color, absolutely no head. Light citrus and raspberry aroma. Very pleasant but not as assertive as many other lambics. Medium bodied, but still a touch of wateriness. Very soft taste with just a touch of sourness. Citrus rules, but there are also other flavors. Some wood, milk, butter, grapes, raspberry. The complexity is there, but there could be a touch more character. Nevertheless a treat and a really great beer.

A Mes rate. Barrel at the Weekend of Tarts.
Yellow brown and very cloudy. Really fruity. Loads of apple and lemon. Hugely drinkable as a jonge should be. Under-developed but enjoyable all the same. Clearly very jonge indeed. A breakfast lambic.

Draught Fully hazy orange-ochre beer, no trace of a head. Very slightly smoked, like a lightly smoked German beer from the lagertank. Sweet, liquorice, hay, garden herbs aromas. Worts taste, very young, cloverflowers; surprisingly little sweetness in the taste, rather grainy (milk-ripe wheat). On the lips, however, already some lemon. Reasonably full-bodied, a bit chewy, ending drier and lighter. Typical young, even worts-like lambic, exhibiting both signs of "usual" beer, as from spontaneously fermenting beer.
