Commercial Description:
DISCLAIMER:
This is a special release from Lindemans. These are bottles which were intended to become Lindemans Gueuze Cuvée René, but they lacked to start a second fermentation. The contents is a 2 years old lambik (1994) blended with a 1 year old lambik (1995). It is a 1996 vintage and was released from the brewery in 2006.

Most of the bottles were exported to Sweden (Systembolaget) and sold as "Lindemans Oude Lambik". Some of them stayed in Belgium. This beer can therefore also be tasted at Heeren van Liedekercke. It is named "Lindemans Loeierik" over there.

Because of the blend this is not the same as "Lindemans Oude Lambik".

If you had a draught version, then you should definitely add a rating for "Lindemans Oude Lambik".

A hazy orange beer with a rim of beige head. The aroma is acidic and woody with notes of sour berries and grapes. The flavor is rather acidic with notes of grapefruit and lemon, leading to a dry woody finish.

(Bottle 75 cl) Comes as "Lindemans Lambic 1996" at 6% ABV, bottle # 787/1042 at Monks in Stockholm. First pour is clear amber golden with a tiny rough head. Aroma has a little cork but is otherwise rather tart and vinegarish. Light body, flat with some fruity raspberry sweetness and an astringent, tart finish with some fustyness. Never Cantillon sour though. 011108

75 cL bottle at DHVL. Pours clear and golden yellow to orange with a small white head. Aroma is nice fruity and mild dry brettish, light barnyard and horseblanket accents, but quite smooth and towards fruity as the dominant impression. Sweet flavoured at first with a light acidic and fruity note following. Dry acetone like before the finish. Medium and fruity finish. Surprisingly good carbonation. Nice.

Bottle bought at De Heeren van Liedekercke. Good citric aroma with a nice dry fruitiness, dry grapes and grapefruit. Cloudy dark orange colour. Almost no head. Lemony citrus flavour, some moldiness. Sorry to say, but this tastes mostly just like lemon juice to me. Very low carbonation, but not entirely flat. Good of course, but not fantastic.

Bottled (1996 vintage. thanks omhper!). Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is sour apricot and earth mainly. Flavour is sour fruits, some slight balancing sweetness, and almost like hints of buckthornberries. East thing to drink, yet at the same time very nice.

From De Heeren Van Liedekercke; vintage 1996, 13+ years old; corked bottle
Cloudy copper color; small head. Perfumy aroma, delicate Brett, pleasant yellow fruits mellow seduction and lemon sourness, well balanced; light wood too. Fizzy mouthfeel, astringent and acidic, woody, tannic, lemony; the final acidity is a bit aggressive; the flavor is not as impressive as the aroma. It doesn’t reach the top. But it’s very interesting.
