Commercial Description:
DISCLAIMER:
This is a special release from Lindemans. These are bottles which were intended to become Lindemans Gueuze Cuvée René, but they lacked to start a second fermentation. The contents is a 2 years old lambik (1994) blended with a 1 year old lambik (1995). It is a 1996 vintage and was released from the brewery in 2006.

Most of the bottles were exported to Sweden (Systembolaget) and sold as "Lindemans Oude Lambik". Some of them stayed in Belgium. This beer can therefore also be tasted at Heeren van Liedekercke. It is named "Lindemans Loeierik" over there.

Because of the blend this is not the same as "Lindemans Oude Lambik".

If you had a draught version, then you should definitely add a rating for "Lindemans Oude Lambik".

Bottle courtesy of Immy at 6th Richmond Gathering. Medium to light hazy amber. Aroma was lightly of sour apple, some faint cedar, and horseblanket. Flavor is sour, and otherwise matches the aroma. Bit of cheddar shows up as well. Really well balanced, very nice carbonation, thoroughly enjoyed this one. Complex and sour without making your tongue completely twist. Delighted to be able to sample this rare treat. For me, the highlight of the tasting.

Bottle courtesy of Immy. Thanks Tim! 1996 vintage. Label states 993 of 1042 and has 11643-01. Not sure what that exactly means, though. Hazy gold. Soft spotty white head. Aroma is GODLY! Barnyard, wet wood (cedar?), cat urine, sweat, damp earth, funky yeast, and very sour fruit. Taste replicates and expands these. More mouth-puckering fruit, lemon juice, wet wood, earthy dampness, funky yeast, hay and sweat. Bit of cheese as well. Body is bone dry and rather acidic and as mentioned before this is mouth puckering. Very faint carbonation and borders on flat, but that’s how this is really supposed to be! Ends with more sweat, sour fruit, funk, wet wood, and earth notes. Very tasty and I feel privileged that this was shared with me.

courtesy of fiulijn; 1996 vintage - cloudy reddish-orange colour with a little foam made of big bubbles; aroma of pineapple, raspberries and cherries; a touch of vinegar and sut; subtle carbonation and with a solid acidity, moderate malt body; fizzy yet creamy finish with long fruity and acidic notes; quite dry aftertaste of sour apples - absolutely beautiful

Bottle (1996 vintage) from Systembolaget. Pours a lovely hazy orange amber color with almost no head. Very complex fruity aroma, with peaches, cherry, apples, grapefruit, and with notes of wood. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Refreshingly sour and bitter flavour, perhaps a bit harsh even. My first unblended lambic, and very good.

Richmond Gathering. Capped and corked 750, #993 of 1042, 1996 vintage. Thanks to Per for sending this my way! Murky gold with no head. Excellent nose - Sweet, tart, barnyardy - wet wood, sweat, wet hay, lemon - WOW! Lots going on here! Flavor is all of the above, and DRY. Sour and fleshy fruits add to the mix. Wisps of carbonation. Awesome. Who do I have to shoot to get more of this???

Bottle, 1996 vintage from systembolaget. Pale amber with a very short white head. Aroma of wood and peaches. Flavour is rather mild, not very sour, and with a short finish. (8,4,7,4,16) [edit] Had another go, ohhhh it’s wonderful...

From De Heeren Van Liedekercke; vintage 1996, 13+ years old; corked bottle
Cloudy copper color; small head. Perfumy aroma, delicate Brett, pleasant yellow fruits mellow seduction and lemon sourness, well balanced; light wood too. Fizzy mouthfeel, astringent and acidic, woody, tannic, lemony; the final acidity is a bit aggressive; the flavor is not as impressive as the aroma. It doesn’t reach the top. But it’s very interesting.
