There are many good German beers but also some pretty bad ones and the same holds true for microbreweries. This beer is obviously marketed to Quebec nationalists and despite not agreeing with this philosophy I was curious enough to buy one. Corny marketing attempts are usually not a good sign of a quality product, though. Closer examination revealed that this was a product of Schoune, a brewery whose beers I and many others here have already rated poorly. In fact, it takes a very close examination to see that this made by Schoune because their name is so small on the bottle. Given the nationalist and rebellious marketing slogans they use and the picture of a woman with her fist in the air it seems ironic that the brewery doesn’t want to draw too much attention to the fact that they are the ones brewing it. On the other hand the only reason I bought it was because I didn’t notice that it was made by Schoune until I opened the bottle.
To the beer itself, I am not paying it a very big compliment in saying it is slightly better than the other beers I have sampled from Schoune. Like the others it is poorly balanced, you can taste the malt too much (as in it seems like the brewing process was not entirely successful) and it prickles the tongue due to overcarbonation. Drinkable but not enjoyable. Schoune seems to be a microbrewery in the tradition of (US) Budweiser in that they know more about marketing than brewing. Their marketing got me to buy a couple of their beers but the quality of the product will not inspire me to buy them again. Viper666 (622), Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Bouteille 341ml.

Taste is weak malt with a crisp finish. A lot of carbonation. Kind of crappy beer to be labelling "L’Independate" Lubiere (4547), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 27, 2009 A clear blonde with a thin white head. Grainy malt aroma, light hopping, non-descript. In mouth, a light crisp ale, veering on macro lager territory, light cereal malt, rather short in mouth. If you wanted to make a beer for the independist movement, at least make one with character....and at 2.69$ a bottle, its really a steal....as in stealing. Boutip (2380), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Aroma of grainy malt with not much other characteristics. Taste is also dominated by some grainy malt with a lightly sweet ending. Average body with some low to medium carbonation. Ok at best but nothing that really stands out. EnSiFeRuM (501), Quebec, Canada

GRM (1274), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
