Commercial Description:
Full bodied, medium tasting amber. Smooth with slight bitter after taste. Enjoy this brew with a heaping plate of our famous chicken wings.

Draught. At the brewpub. Light clear gold with a smallish white head. Light, boring, slightly perfumey aroma - not bad, but "dark" lager? as if ... The taste follows, a little bit more to it, actually detectable grassy bitterness, but still a tad sweet, if fresh-grainy. Weak body and carbonation, quick, dry, fairly crisp finish - again, boring, but I didn’t get corn, PVC or stale weeds, so that’s a plus.

This is the brewpub version - looks like there are some bottle ratings in here, they should be under Gold Crown. Anyway, Medium yellow, good sized white head. Decent aroma of light malt, grains, and some hops. taste is good - very fresh, light malt and a really nice hop bite at the end. This one surprised me, it was very drinkable and quite well done for the style (it is not a dark lager????).

A Mes rate. Yet another I have to thank Dave for. Clean dark gold with a decent white head. According to Casper it smells of post sick covered, shampooed carpet. According to Dave it smells of a mental institution. Personally, I’m somewhere in between. A reasonable fruity lager in the mouth. Slight vanilla sweetness with a faint mineral note in the finish. Bland but thankfully far less offensive than the aroma. Slight bacon fat. Just about drinkable, as long as you hold your nose.

Pours the color of a urine sample, with a non-existant head. Nose was musty, as was the taste. One sip and it was down the drain.

[1092-20080211] Tap @ Lion brewpub (Waterloo, ON). Grainy yeast alcohol aroma. Clear, pale yellow body with a quick creamy white head. Grainy alcohol continues in flavour with a hint of evergreen. Medium body is a little rough. Average -- never thought I’d say this but the light is better than the lager here.

On tap at the hotel- Pours a transparent amber, with a frothy white fizz. Faint aroms of grains and apple juice with a bit of perfume. Flavour profile is sweet fruit (apple, some pear) grainy, almost corn husky, some bready yeast. Watery finish. One of the less flavourful beers from this brewer.

At the brewpub. A bit of malt and yeast. Fresh, with some lace. Tiny head. Token bitterness, overcarbonated. Pale amber colour.Watery weak body. About average and signature for the brews at this brewpub. Easy to drink compared to a macro and reminicent of the beers I had at University.

Tapped a clear amber-glold with a 1 finger white cap...modest lace. Very little aroma....just a light musty sweetness. Medium light bodied. light malt spine. sandy-grainy mouthfeel. Grainy/bready up front then this is balanced by a sour/musty/citrusy decernment from the hops and lager yeast. Finish is fast and clean with light bittering A standard nondiescipt golden lager...a fair house lager but I wouldn’t drive very far to sample it.
