I thought i had rated this one but apparently not. good thing i took good notes. bottle courtesy of and shared with theReverend. black/dark brown with a nice brown head. looks good. aroma chocolate and lots of bourbon. sweet vanilla cocoa flavor with lots of spicy alcohol.....a bit too much alcohol. spicy alcohol finish. almost like rye whiskey dipped in chocolate. sounds nice but is a bit off. light body....a bit too light. decent but it needs some work.

Poured a clear very dark ruby-brown color with a small tan head. Fruity chocolate aroma. The chocolate is pretty big. Huge chocolate flavor. Almost like eating hot cocoa powder. Medium body and a sweet finish.

Pours pitch black but almost no head whatsoever. Looks pretty thin. Smells of coffee grounds and roasty malts, nothing special, nothing exciting. Taste is pretty bitter and kind of sweet. Not really what I’m looking for in a stout. Some roasty caramel characters but they are light, and not enough. Almost comes off as a dunkel of some sort. Not really impressed here.

Bottle (12oz). Via trade with TURDFERGUSON. Oily opaque reddish-black pour, Average foamy light brown diminishing head. Smells initially like sour cherry medicine, with gobs of caramel and some coffee grounds bringing up the rear. Taste is slightly sour dark roast malt, coffee grounds, that caramel sweetness again, celery root bitterness in the somewhat boozy finish. Thick, oily, still body, mildly acidic and alcoholic mouthfeel, weird vegetable aftertaste. Okay - a wants to be thick and sweet, comes out oddly sour. Thanks, Sam!

Bottle from Sammy’s. Pours a very dark brown with a small tan head that lasts for a couple sips. Aroma and flavor have a lingering bitter coffee thing going on that I’m not really digging. Tastes almost a little sour at the end mixed in with the bitterness. Stick with the greens, jamaica!

Dark brown, no head. Apperas to be really thin. Aroma and flavor dominated by coffee. Nothing else detectable. Oxidation setting in. Body way too thin. Below average at best.

Bottle. Pitch black, light brown shortlived dish-water foam looking head. Vinous aroma with hints of burned sugar. Flavor is roasty, slightly acidic (like burned sugar - not citric or lactic). As the beer warms you get some butter and nuts, which balances the roastiness and makes smoother. Light bitterness coming more from roast than from hops. Watery mouth feel with a bit too high carbonation. OK, but not a beer I will seek out.
