o.k. So my beer manager friend at my local recommended I try this. He said you have to try half the 10,000-dollar black and tan. He couldn’t remember what the other half of it was so I have some research to do. Pitch black body that reveals nothing when held to the light and an orange hued dark brown head. I could smell petuli and licorice while looking at it at arms length. Strong licorice nose with a fair bit of chocolate and the alcohol is easily discernable. More of a Hershey’s syrup or the chocolate shell that you put on ice cream as far as the chocolate aroma goes. My first thought when tasting this was, thin, it is much thinner than I expected in the mouth feel department. Perfumey chocolate flavor with a spent mint chewing gum flavor that I don’t think compliments this. A peppery finish. The alcohol is noticeable throughout this but not overpowering. A bit too much floral taste for me in this. A lot of herbal action that is not agreeing with me also. I’m left with the thought that there aren’t any lions in Jamaica. Ap-5 ar-7 tas-4 pal-3 ov-10

Dark black/brown with a light brown head whitch fades rapidly. A very limited aroma with alcohol being forefront. There are faint notes of chocolate and roasted/burnt aromas. The flavor was mildy bitter with almost an acidic quality coming from the roasted malts. The alcohol was not very evident as might have been expected from the aroma. Nice medium body with a nice level of mild carbonation. The mouthfeel was the best part of the beer with an almost creamy consistency when the gas escaped in your mouth. The finish was unremarkable with average length and faint notes of the same chocolate and roasted characters found in the flavor. Very drinkable but unremarkable.

Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, and alcohol. Pours a dark brown wtih some orange hilights and a small off-white head. Watery chocolate and caramel flavors. No real roastiness nor coffee flavors. Thin on the palate. Pretty mediocre.

Bottle. Black no head, lil lacing. Jet fuelish roast malt, sitting not too well with a bit much alcohol. carny (that’s a mix of can corn and a weird old carinival dirty man), bitter, not good, not smooth, no nice flavors, not repulsive really but just lame.

This beers pours very dark with a monstrous brown head. It is a little bit on the light bodied side for a Stout. It finishes with some alcohol notes but nonetheless it drinks fairly smooth. The aroma is average, but the flavor is nice - I can discern nuts as well as caramel.l

Black. Thick brown head. Roasty chocoffee malt, ashy licorice, subtle alcohol in the aroma. Same flavor. Alcohol more pronounced as it warms. Smooth, medium body. Nice stout.

Pours an almost completely black yet still brown sort of color with a tan head. that is quite small. Light coffee and molasses aroma. Flavored reminds me of coffee with a heavy dose of brown sugar. Not entirely pleasing. Beer seemed to get worse as I continued to drink it. Last 1/4 was poured down the drain.
