Commercial Description:
Little Creatures was born to make a pale ale…a specific style of pale ale, a style that we are absolutely passionate about and one that we believe displays great balance of flavour and refreshment…complex yet highly drinkable. The beer's character is driven by the use of fresh whole hop flowers. Hop Flowers are carefuly selected that are bursting with aroma and contain all the essential oils and acids that deliver an uniqe flavour experience. Drink a few pints of this beer and you'll soon become one of us…a certified "hophead" craving those crisp citrus flavours of grapefruit and passionfruit and maybe a bit of honey, all backed up with a good balance of bitterness. If you're wondering what on earth malt or hops actually are then click on the two hop characters to the left and find out more. It's not just the hops that make Little Creatures Pale Ale what it is though. Selected malts are kilned in small batches to our specifications and are used exlusively in our pale ale. Two different yeasts are used to both ferment and bottle condition the beer. The latest technology and equipment is used to maintain absolute quality control and one of the main ingredients in the pale ale has got to be the amount of passion that it takes to produce a seriously good beer...we live for it! From brewing to release, a batch of pale ale takes about six weeks, allowing for two weeks conditioning in the bottle after packaging. No artificial preservatives or additives are included, just great ingredients.

Sweet and sickly Pale Ale with a nauseating aroma. To much fruit makes this smell and taste like fermented rotten fruit. Guaranteed to induce a head crushing hangover if you can manage to drink more than one.

Medium offwhite head does not last. Hazy orange body. Powerful tropical fruit hop and malts aroma with excellent harmony and balance. Goes more medicinal later, unfortunately. Dry-and-sweet medicinal malty taste with powerful tropical fruit background. Sharpish, mealy mouthfeel. A bit thin-bodied. Bitter medicinal malt and chalk aftertaste lingers. Nice! Probably even better fresh. (0.33l bottle from the wine monopoly. BBD Oct ’08.)

Bottle (330ml). Poured a golden orange with a frothy white head which was average lasting. Aroma was quite floral, with grassy hops, passion fruit, apricots and peaches. Flavor was similar to aroma with a decent hop bitterness, grassy/resin notes, passion fruit, peaches, apricots and some orange citrus. Medium bodied with lively carbonation, watery texture, a dry/hoppy mouthfeel and a good finish. Not my first choice for an aussie APA.

Bottle. Vinmonopolet started selling this one last fall. A good choice it seems. It pours a slighlty hayz, but mostly clear, orange body, well carbonated, leaving a small, lasting off-white head. Citrus, mostly grapefruit dominates the aroma. There’s also pine and resin, and a maltyness hiding in the background. It has a hop dominated flavor too, leaving room for some sweet maltyness, but it’s most of all a hoppy beer, with citrus and resin running the show. It’s not very bitter. I could wish for a fuller body, it feels a bit watery, but it’s not thin enough for that. Long, citrusy, piney bitterness finish the beer. A dangerously drinkable beer, refreshing even though it’s quite sweet, and sure pleasing. I’m more content now :-) (080206)

Bottle from Oddbins. Slightly hazy golden colour with a big white head. Big citrus and pine hop aroma. Full mouth feel with some sweet malt flavour before citrus and floral hops and a very dry mouth-puckering finish. Very good.

Great hop and floral aromas followed by a zesty, easily drinkable taste. A great beer for hopheads
