Commercial Description:
Little Creatures was born to make a pale ale…a specific style of pale ale, a style that we are absolutely passionate about and one that we believe displays great balance of flavour and refreshment…complex yet highly drinkable. The beer's character is driven by the use of fresh whole hop flowers. Hop Flowers are carefuly selected that are bursting with aroma and contain all the essential oils and acids that deliver an uniqe flavour experience. Drink a few pints of this beer and you'll soon become one of us…a certified "hophead" craving those crisp citrus flavours of grapefruit and passionfruit and maybe a bit of honey, all backed up with a good balance of bitterness. If you're wondering what on earth malt or hops actually are then click on the two hop characters to the left and find out more. It's not just the hops that make Little Creatures Pale Ale what it is though. Selected malts are kilned in small batches to our specifications and are used exlusively in our pale ale. Two different yeasts are used to both ferment and bottle condition the beer. The latest technology and equipment is used to maintain absolute quality control and one of the main ingredients in the pale ale has got to be the amount of passion that it takes to produce a seriously good beer...we live for it! From brewing to release, a batch of pale ale takes about six weeks, allowing for two weeks conditioning in the bottle after packaging. No artificial preservatives or additives are included, just great ingredients.

Chilled 330ml bottle after a hard days work. Inviting nose packed with citrus, peach and stonefruit-like hop aromas with a hint of toffee like malt. Pours a reasonably clean pale amber body with white lace. From the word go the palate is packed full of fruity hop flavour with excellent length and assertive bitterness. Peach, apricot, lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit, nectarine and bitter orange come to mind as the hops linger on the tongue atop a smooth biscuity malt base. Truely a fine Aussie beer, and an excellent example of an APA, having spawned many clones these days.

(Rating update: Nice musky citrus and earthy hop aroma with a dollop of honey, lively chewy hop flavor with a nice pith finish. Tons of flavor and sparkle. Great to get a fresh bottle. A really fine APA.) Pours a warm copper orange with a modest fine white cap. Tangerine hop aroma, a little muted, a touch of oxidation. Flavor shows just a touch of oxidation as well, but in spite of that, it’s a really full hop flavor and an excellent palate, soft and mouthfilling with a dry finish. Tasted as is, a respectable beer. Really fresh, I bet this is fantastic. I expect a dramatic up-adjustment of the rating when I can find a fresher bottle. Overall: 3.3

Bottle. This is an excellent beer. Its particular combination of fruitiness and bitterness is delightfully refreshing. One of my favourites.

12oz btl. Brought back from England from a customer of mine at Knightly Spirits. Pours vibrant, glowing yellow with a bouncy, bubbly white head. Aromas of mandarin oranges, guava, honeyed melons and grapefruit. Mild, intoxicating aromas seemlessly blend malts and hops into a delectable pale ale. Tastes of biscuity malts, mature, oily hops and peaches. Bravo, I really dig this brew.

Bottle. The beer that stands tall amongst the standard range of six packs in a Liquorland fridge. The fruitiness is splendidly realised, tasty passionfruit with some orange peel and a floral (blossom?) character. The bitterness works well with the full flavour, but hangs around a bit too long after the finish for my liking.

King of the mountain! A bold and powerful ale with impeccable credentials. Wonderful citrus aromas and a rich golden orange appearance. Lots of body and an intense fruitines that lingers long enough to remind you you need more. Plenty of bitterness but delivered with teriffic poise. A credit to Australian brewing
