Commercial Description:
Little Creatures was born to make a pale ale…a specific style of pale ale, a style that we are absolutely passionate about and one that we believe displays great balance of flavour and refreshment…complex yet highly drinkable. The beer's character is driven by the use of fresh whole hop flowers. Hop Flowers are carefuly selected that are bursting with aroma and contain all the essential oils and acids that deliver an uniqe flavour experience. Drink a few pints of this beer and you'll soon become one of us…a certified "hophead" craving those crisp citrus flavours of grapefruit and passionfruit and maybe a bit of honey, all backed up with a good balance of bitterness. If you're wondering what on earth malt or hops actually are then click on the two hop characters to the left and find out more. It's not just the hops that make Little Creatures Pale Ale what it is though. Selected malts are kilned in small batches to our specifications and are used exlusively in our pale ale. Two different yeasts are used to both ferment and bottle condition the beer. The latest technology and equipment is used to maintain absolute quality control and one of the main ingredients in the pale ale has got to be the amount of passion that it takes to produce a seriously good beer...we live for it! From brewing to release, a batch of pale ale takes about six weeks, allowing for two weeks conditioning in the bottle after packaging. No artificial preservatives or additives are included, just great ingredients.

Light golden colour with a subtle aroma of fruit. Very balanced taste with a light to medium body. Again, as with the aroma, has subtle fruity flavour (reminiscent of lemon) which is complex but also very drinkable...could be a great session beer. Introduced to me by a friend while I visited Perth who told me it was one of the best Pale Ales he has had...he was not exaggerating.

Bottled, 330ml, pasteuised. Golden orange with volcanic white head. Sparkling floral aromas with a peachy orangey flowery flavours. Manages to taste fresh and hoppy despite the bottling wih a grassy leafy finish. Simple sweet finish, a particularly decent beer.

(Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy amber golden with a small, white head. Very floral, hoppy nose with a touch of citrus. Rather light in body with a (bit too) heavy carbonation. Mainly dry, but comes with a discreet caramel sweetness. Fruity and fresh with notes of grapefruit. Dry, hoppy finish. A very refreshing brew. 081205

Lightly hazed golden ale with a nice creamy froathy white head. Faint earthy hops appears through cloudy malts. In mouth, crisp clean malts and classy lightly floral hops, light peppery notes, with some apples. Not as intense as North American APAs, but very dignified. Bought in London, February 2005.

Poured from the bottle, a golden orange with a filmy head. A crisp clean fruity hop aroma - just makes me want to drink it. A good clean taste as well, an interesting combination of the hops and malt in my mouth, very a nice underlying bitterness.

Very good aroma, nice hops notes. Strong hop flavours combined with a touch of malty aftertaste. A good, complex beer. Definitely one to keep in the fridge.

Bottle - Thanks to mullet for bringing this over from Australia!
Nose of some spices (coriander), honey, fruits (grapefruit, apples), caramel, grain. Reminded me somewhat of apple juice, but not in a bad way (i.e. not too sweet). Very well balanced aroma. Remarkable, moderately bitter flavour, which lasts quite long. Because the bitterness is accompagnied by some astringy hints, I’m not completely fan of it, but still it’s my best American Pale Ale so far. I think I could like it more when I’ve had another one (or two).

Tasted 18/10/2005. 330ml bottle-conditioned stubbie from Regional Wines and Spirits, Wellington. Light, bright, rose-gold, that clouds up a little as the bottom section of the bottle pours in. Only a tiny amount of yeast, not enough to scare the punters. A just off-white, airy, head sits atop a, thankfully, mildly carbonated beer (alright, it’s looking better than most Aussie beers already). Subtle fruity citrus and passionfruit aroma, with a hint of vinous character. Sweet, juicy, fruity malt flavour, initially, is followed by a strong, lingering, bitterness that suggests at grapefruit oil. Good weight in the mouth and a soft, but spiritzy, carbonation. I’ve heard so much about this from patriotic Aussie’s and yep, I must agree, this is a good one. The best Australian beer I’ve tried to date.
