Commercial Description:
Little Creatures was born to make a pale ale…a specific style of pale ale, a style that we are absolutely passionate about and one that we believe displays great balance of flavour and refreshment…complex yet highly drinkable. The beer's character is driven by the use of fresh whole hop flowers. Hop Flowers are carefuly selected that are bursting with aroma and contain all the essential oils and acids that deliver an uniqe flavour experience. Drink a few pints of this beer and you'll soon become one of us…a certified "hophead" craving those crisp citrus flavours of grapefruit and passionfruit and maybe a bit of honey, all backed up with a good balance of bitterness. If you're wondering what on earth malt or hops actually are then click on the two hop characters to the left and find out more. It's not just the hops that make Little Creatures Pale Ale what it is though. Selected malts are kilned in small batches to our specifications and are used exlusively in our pale ale. Two different yeasts are used to both ferment and bottle condition the beer. The latest technology and equipment is used to maintain absolute quality control and one of the main ingredients in the pale ale has got to be the amount of passion that it takes to produce a seriously good beer...we live for it! From brewing to release, a batch of pale ale takes about six weeks, allowing for two weeks conditioning in the bottle after packaging. No artificial preservatives or additives are included, just great ingredients.

Tasted 18/10/2005. 330ml bottle-conditioned stubbie from Regional Wines and Spirits, Wellington. Light, bright, rose-gold, that clouds up a little as the bottom section of the bottle pours in. Only a tiny amount of yeast, not enough to scare the punters. A just off-white, airy, head sits atop a, thankfully, mildly carbonated beer (alright, it’s looking better than most Aussie beers already). Subtle fruity citrus and passionfruit aroma, with a hint of vinous character. Sweet, juicy, fruity malt flavour, initially, is followed by a strong, lingering, bitterness that suggests at grapefruit oil. Good weight in the mouth and a soft, but spiritzy, carbonation. I’ve heard so much about this from patriotic Aussie’s and yep, I must agree, this is a good one. The best Australian beer I’ve tried to date.

A Mes rate: I was most surprised by this one. Slightly cloudy pale appearance. Strange hint of mint that I have noted previously in a few other pale ales. Hoppy. Brief finish that ends up a little sticky but it doesnt spoil it. Hmm bottle conditioned... it shows. Very well presented session beer. Much like an Anchor Liberty Ale but much better for my money. Not my thing usually but I am rather impressed.

Clear golden body with a fluffy, rocky white head. Excellent nose of fresh cascade hops, whole grains, caramel, toasted bread, apricots, pine, peach skin, a light bit of hay. Velvety mouthfeel with nice mild carbonation, but the body seems to drop out a little too early and too easily. The flavor starts mildly sweet with the caramel and grains interacting well. The hops come in and provide a dominate bitterness. The finish is relatively short, but the bitterness lingers. In many ways, this is spot-on to the style. Crisp bitterness that isn’t too intense, nice pale malt character that isn’t left behind, and a clean profile. If the malt could stay around a little later, provide a bit more depth and enhance the enjoyment in the mouth, this could be one of the best. Either way, I’d rather drink this than SNPA. Thanks Corin!

This is one of the best hardest to find beer of Australia. If you ever find this beer in USA drop me a line. This is one of the most tasty beers around.

I’ve been drinking American-style pale ales for a while now and this one is way better than the crop of them. light and crisp. very carbonated.

Good colour, but head is gone in seconds even though there is a steady bead of bubbles (glass is clean and detergent free) There is a good malty nose with some hoppy aromas. Very light in flavour, but still has good balance. This is allright, but I prefer Goose Island or Sierra Nevada, both have much more character than this. Peckhams

Highly impressed here. Aroma is grapefruit and lychee. Taste is malty, lightly sweet with a dry finish with more citus flavours. All round a great little beer that i didnt expect to find and could and would like to session at a party some time. RE RATE: This is the best session beer in the world and its becoming easier to get now too.

Pours a clear copper bronze with a frothy, well-lacing white head. Real fresh piney American hoppy aroma well balanced with sweet crystal malt. Body starts with a touch of malty sweetness and lots of piney, bitter hops. The alcohol is well masked in the crisp bittersweet finish. A very nice pale ale.
