Commercial Description:
Little Creatures was born to make a pale ale…a specific style of pale ale, a style that we are absolutely passionate about and one that we believe displays great balance of flavour and refreshment…complex yet highly drinkable. The beer's character is driven by the use of fresh whole hop flowers. Hop Flowers are carefuly selected that are bursting with aroma and contain all the essential oils and acids that deliver an uniqe flavour experience. Drink a few pints of this beer and you'll soon become one of us…a certified "hophead" craving those crisp citrus flavours of grapefruit and passionfruit and maybe a bit of honey, all backed up with a good balance of bitterness. If you're wondering what on earth malt or hops actually are then click on the two hop characters to the left and find out more. It's not just the hops that make Little Creatures Pale Ale what it is though. Selected malts are kilned in small batches to our specifications and are used exlusively in our pale ale. Two different yeasts are used to both ferment and bottle condition the beer. The latest technology and equipment is used to maintain absolute quality control and one of the main ingredients in the pale ale has got to be the amount of passion that it takes to produce a seriously good beer...we live for it! From brewing to release, a batch of pale ale takes about six weeks, allowing for two weeks conditioning in the bottle after packaging. No artificial preservatives or additives are included, just great ingredients.

Bottle from Oddbins. Cloudy orange and gold with a small head. Aromas are sweet, floral hops with zesty fruit, especially grapefruit. Flavours are fruity and floral. Parma violets, sweetened grapefruit, apricots. Good and hoppy with a nice sparkle.

Bottle. A slightly hazy golden colour with a slim white head. Very hoppy aroma, true to its style. Very hoppy taste, with citrus throughout. Nicely bitter finish, full bodied with an excellent mouthfeel. Best Australian beer I’ve tried so far.

Probably one of the only examples of an American pale ale to be found in Australia. Pours out to a cloudy light-gold-yellow color with a thin white head. Smells like cascade hops. Tastes like cascade hops. Finishes with grapefruity taste of cascade hops. Pretty much a one-trick pony, with only the slightest hint of malt flavor around. That said, it’s pretty easy drinking and even if you aren’t a total hophead you’ll probably find this one refreshing.

Available from Sainsbury’s in the UK, but you have to buy a Christmas 4pack containing Youngs Oatmeal Stout, Erdinger Hefe and a Brazilian Lager(!). Beautiful pale ale. Bottle conditioned, sparkling, fair head. Fruity (peach, citrus) aroma, medium body, plenty of hops, long fruity hop finish.

Light orange, slightly murky. Nose it a little austere, a bit hoppy and a bit citrussy. Serious palate, quite hoppy and finishes firm. Nice citrus traits run througout giving the beer a sharp feel. A bit too much fizz took the edge off a higher score.

A pale golden colour, rich fruity (pomegranate?) candy sugar and malt nose with hint of blackberry and hops. Full, hedgerow fruit and malt taste, also rich malt body, a woody hint and some sappy, piney, citrussy bitter hops in the finish. Turns very dry in the aftertaste with lingering bitterness and loads of citric hops although still very malty. Excellent balance; quality beer. The best Aussie beer I’ve had so far - by a long way. (Bottle conditioned from Oddbins, Manchester)

330ml bottle. There is quite heavy carbonation and a small, but lasting white fluffy head. The aroma is hoppy, with plenty of cascade character, similar to SNP or Hop Devil. It is heavy on the citric qualities, with plenty of citrus fruit and crisp bitterness. But despite the claims of the commercial description, a claim of sheer hop dominance, this is actually rather well balanced; there is a lot of malt in there. This is a really good beer.
