shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA May 8, 2009 draft at the brewpub. pours a deep brrown with a tan head. notes of bitter coffee, roasted malts. an enjoyable beer. very fresh and drinkable! RAYBOY01 (1812), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 10, 2009 I very much prefer the B-A version of this dry stout...with the added elements of the oak barrel...vanilla, oak, whiskey, etc. The lactic sourness is still lurking in the far distant background. Palate seems pretty thin and watery for my liking, but all in all, still a base hit. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jan 24, 2009 Tap Livery: Deep brown with a frothy tan head, good lace. The aroma has notes of whiskey, oak, burnt and caramel malts, slight lactic sourness and some grassy hops. The taste is much more rounded and complex that the basic beer, the barrel added a twang and fruitiness not found otherwise. The malt is still a player as is a hint of grassy and herbal hops. The mouth feel is thinner than I would want but drinkability is outstanding. A massive improvement over the basic Dixie O’Flynn, damn happy about that!
