Commercial Description:
Cask aged version of Bigford Brothers Kilt Tilter. This Scotch ale is named after two of the most talented individuals we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Music, painting, woodworking, they do it all and do it well! Dark in color, this ale is brewed with peated barley for the distinctively smoky finish.

[Cask @ Livery] Poured a brown amber color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked meats, burnt wood, oxidation, nuts, caramel malts, and light roast. Taste of more smoke, nuts, caramel, toast, some oxidation, and a bit of alcohol in the finish.

tap at brewpub-ruby hue with a soft soapy off-white head. nose of big oake, smokey as hell-lots of tobacco with some sweet malts and dark fruit tones. Peat moss-yep, its there! Big smokey flavors start but balanced with toffee, chocolate, char, and dark fruits. very nice and pillowy/lush mouthfeal. Truely an outstanding beer. I totally dig this one!

MBG 7-21-06. Medium brown, beige head, great lacing, especially for plastic. Nice sweet malt and smoked peat aroma. Up front but mellow at the same time. Flavor on par, big caramel/toffee kick, fades to smoke through the middle mixed with some more residuel sugar. Finish dries out slightly form the woody character. Big luscious mouthfeel. Very nice overall.

Growler-Thanks Tom! Tasted the week of ’06 GABF. Huge malty aroma, brown sugar, smoke, dark fruits, vanilla, smells great. Taste is brown sugar, smoke, dark fruits, vanilla, hints of oak and bourbon? All in all, this is a great Scotch ale and the barrel is well in the background. Nice body.

Draught sample at MBG 2006 Summer Festival. Ruby-brown with a small tan head. Aroma is nice & big - malty, peaty, smoky - yeah, that’s a Scotch Ale! Flavour is fairly sweet to start, malt and caramel, with drying notes of whisky and wood as it finishes. This is some fine, fine stuff - jerc is wrong once again!

Draught. Dark brown with a tan head and lace. The aroma is heavily smoky, woody, and earthy with even some faint tart fruitiness. Interesting malt complexity with alcohol warmth. Chewy caramel flavour and smokiness along with some dark fruit. Nice depth and overall profile.

Michigan BGF 06, Rating #2500: Deep brown hue with no head but a nice oily film. The aroma has notes of smoky and peaty malt, star fruit, plum, grassy hops, earthy yeast esters, and fresh oak.

The taste starts with a smoky but not too powerful character supported by a plum and prune fruity undertone. Displays a woody note more towards the finish and there is just a dash of bitters found within.

The mouth feel is smooth, oily and lush but not sticky nor cloy. A most excellent brew, barrel aged well and restrain use of smoked malt (around 12% per Steve the brewmaster). I can not wait to get a growler of this tomorrow night.

Draft at brewery. Poured dark reddish brown with a small fizzy off-white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Heavy roasted malt, smoke and woody aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Medium smoky sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration.
