Sampled from Growler thanks to WeeHeavySD. Poured a medium amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of oaky woodiness, fruity, and citrus. Tastes of wood, lightly vinous, bourbon, fruity and some citrus.

Draft at The Livery. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt, citrus and wood aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with another very good brew from this house.

FoBAB 2008 and currently on tap: Pours a coppery hue with a thin but lasting frothy head. The aroma has notes of red fruits, oak, vanilla, whisky, caramel, phenolic alcohol, slight grassy and spicy hops, mild barnyard funk vapours. The taste starts with a bit of a palate shock of alcohol and wood, tart fruit, and grainy malts. Melts into more a bock once you get past the acidity and oak. The finish is crushing bone dry, much of sugar has been ate alive but the yeast, the body is once again too thin for the flavor profile IMO. Weird and different but not sour enough to be classified as a wild ale.

Sampled from fresh growler at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival 12/5/2008. This dopplebock pours a medium orange gold color from the growler. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, sweet with a touch of oak and bourbon. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Lots of orange flavors with hints of bourbon and oak. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

[Draft @ Livery] Poured a nearly clear, amber color with a thin, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, light toasty malts, bourbon, vanilla oak, brett, nuts, and some alcohol. Taste of caramel malts, vanilla, wood, some citrus fruits, bourbon and smoke, with a wild finish.

3rd rating, big thanks to Mike for this growler. Thought id put in a good rate so I could share the rest of it with people at Strong Ale tomorrow. Pours amberish with a head that quickly faded. Nose is sweet rich and tart with some nice malty notes. Taste is really quite complex with a very with vinious qualities, sweet malt, but really a big tart funky beer. The alcohol is also quite well hidden. Damn tasty!

Coppery amber pour w/white fluffy head. Nose is bourbon, wine, caramel, and alcohol. Big alcohol, by the way...very, very hot and dry. Flavors are sweet caramel, toffee, oak, bourbon, wine, and little to no hop bite. Sour finish...obviously picked up a good bit of funk in the various transfers to wood. Good.
