HonkeyBra (1270), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 24, 2009 On tap at the HopCat. Orangey yellow with n off white head. Aroma of oak, wine. Kind of salty and earthy. Flavor is oaky and yeast, a light cracker malt and sweetness. This was alright, not really sour. This beer was like a party you weren’t that excited to go to, and you went and it was alright, but afterward people keep telling you how they heard the party was so awesome and you just were kind of confused why. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Oct 17, 2009 On tap at the hopcat. Clear straw with small white head. Aroma is yeast and alc, spice, not much of a barrel characteristic or biere de garde. Flavor is light and refreshing, spice, yeast, slight chalky, not bad but once again not much barrel charecteristic. Light, semi-watery, light carbonation. Okay. juiceisloose (640), Windermere, Florida, USA Jun 5, 2009 Growler courtesy GoT. Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a small off white head that receds quickly. The aroma shows hints of tart grapes, oak, funk, and citric acidity. This has a very musty, barnyard like smell to it. Very funky. The flavor follows and is very vinous with tart and acidic merlot grapes to go with oak that adds an earthy componet. The brett dries things up and adds that farmhouse like funk as well. Medium bodied and finely carbonated with a slight tart finish from the grapes. Really nice use of the wine barrels in this one. Good stuff. smith4498 (825), Miami, Florida, USA May 29, 2009 Growler shared by GodOfThunder. Pours hazy golden color with white head. Sour, funky aroma. Tart flavor and a little fruity with some wood and a touch of merlot in the background. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Good stuff. cmillward (419), Orlando, Florida, USA May 23, 2009 Growler, courtesy of GodOfThunder. Pours a hazy golden with some nice lacing around the glass. Nose is musty, tart, honey, funky brett with some light fruitiness. In flavor, tart and fruity, a little grainy malt, with some woody tannins and some booze towards the end as it warms. Low carbonation, drying, big round mouthfeel from all the tannins. Solid and very drinkable. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA May 18, 2009 Growler, courtesy GoT. Pours a hazy, medium golden hue. A flimsy, off-white head dissipates quickly, leaving micro-spot lacing behind. The aroma is quite vinous, with sharp, acedic grape notes, new American oak, mild bretty mustiness, and some citric acidity all showing strong. There’s perhaps some wet hay or straw in there as well, along with some mineral overtones. Flavors follow suit, quite vinous overall, somewhat reminiscent of a crisp, tannic Pinot Grigio, complete with a hint of creaminess. Brettanomyces imparts a light, dry, farmhouse funk and tartness. Oak really makes itself known, imparting an earthy, woody element. Medium-bodied, lightly carbonated, crisp, and semi-dry, even the mouthfeel resembles that of a summertime white wine. Very good stuff. A true bridge between two worlds. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA May 16, 2009 Growler courtesy GOT. Pours a hazy reddish copper. Pungent spicy citrus malt and funk aroma. Tart malt and merlot taste when it starts to warm a little, with hints of barrel and funk. Smooth and easy to drink, its good. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 15, 2009 Growler… Hazy yellow ale with no head. I can only describe the aroma as Barnyard-Extreme! Layers of fresh and stale manure, straw, horse blanket and limburger cheese – in a good way? Yep! Medium-bodied with nearly expired carbonation. Tart with essences of aged, old, vintage cheese. No residual sweetness can be found lingering in the midst of the acidity and the balancing, earthy, minerally bitterness. Finishes tart, funky and dry. Thanks to GoT for providing the growler!
