Tmoney99 (3544), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 10, 2007 Draft sample at MBGF07. Poured reddish brown color and minimal fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished with virtually no lacing. Moderate dark cherry fruit aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sour flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable fruit beer. RAYBOY01 (1623), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 18, 2007 Very intensely deep reddish brown with a fluffy tan head. The nose is very strongly alcoholic (brandy barrels) and tart cherries. The flavor is intense sour/tart cherries, brandy, a hint of creamy chocolate (chocolate covered cherries anyone?) with a pronounced alcohol burn in the finish. This has a definite link to flemish sours and has a belgian wild fermentation kind of yeast profile. Very nicely brewed. badnewsbeers (982), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Mar 8, 2007 2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Festival, Lansing...not much notes on this one, but i can assure you my numbers are accurate...it was a long day, rest assured; i do remember as a subtle cherry-infused flemish with a nice bourbon backbone Silphium (2017), Lansing, Michigan, USA Feb 26, 2007 Sampled at the 2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Festival, Lansing. Dominated by a round oakiness with subdued cherry, relatively little sweetness or tartness. Wild and earthy, but not one of my favorites at the fest. tjthresh (1289), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Dec 30, 2006 Updated: Jan 11, 2007Big ol’ snifter at the brewpub. Murky red with a rich tan head. Sugary cherry cough drop aroma with Belgian yeast phenols and ester make for quite a complex aroma. Candy sweet to start and rolls to a mild tart cherry finish. Rich and creamy body. For those wondering, I asked the brewer if this was the same as the Belgian cherry wheat. I don’t remember the specifics, but these are not really even close to being the same. I’d put this on up against NG Belgian Red any day.
