sampled at barrel-aged brewfest. bourbon/alcohol. so good. a little bland, but only relatively to the other stuff i’ve had today... ironically the only rating i wrote "good" about is the one i wrote least about. wow, didn’t even notice it’s almost 15% alcohol. it’s pretty well hidden, considering...

This growler from BBB63 at a rating party poured a small sized head of finely sized brown colored bubbles that was mostly diminishing and left behind a opaque brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was hoppy malty roasted malt toasted malt bourbon and burnt malt. . The flavor contained notes of malt hops toasted malt roasted malt dark malt bourbon and burnt malt. Delicious and one I would certainly have again. Not sure that this is a Tripple, it was more like a hopped up stout!

GTMW06. Dark brown with a tan, whispy head. The nose is toffee, caramel and banana. The flavor is toffee, cinnamon, fruity and sweet. Full body, soft and creamy.

tap - Nice fruity Belgian aroma. Very smooth in the mouth, make you want to hit every taste bud. High alcohol was almost a little much to let you taste all the good spice and fruit flavors going on. I’d love this one by a fire on a cold winter night!

On tap at the brewery 1 year anniversary party: Deep mahogany hue with a small fading head and oily fingers. The nose detects immediate characteristics of bourbon (vanilla, oak) along with candi sugar, clove, pepper, apple, prune, and caramel.

The taste starts fruity sweet with prune and fig at the forefront accompanied by a blast of bourbon goodness. There is a subdued exotic spiciness that soon followed with a hint of smoke, walnut, and wood. The mouth feel is very sticky and lush with a healthy dose of alcoholic warming. Yet again we have another wonderful creation by Steve and the perfect beer to celebrate the anniversary of one the best new breweries found anywhere. Thank you Steve and Leslie for the great time and the gift.

On tap at the Great Taste of the Midwest. Poured an ugly burgundy with just a few loose bubbles as head. Nose picked up lots of candi sugar and corn syrup, brown sugar, light spices, and a bit of yeast. Cask aging was more apparent in the flavor, adding oak, more vanilla, and bourbon sweetness... herbal bitterness and more apparent alcohol were in there, too. Heavy and alcohol-fueled on the palate.. satisfying, warm, spicy, fruity finish. Another winner!

Tap @ GTMW 2006. Semi-hazed with a caramel-chocolate color with no head, nor other visual signs of life, save the aromatic abundance that wafts forcefully a good foot away from the nose. There’s no mistaking the aromatic brown sugared sweetness and vivacious bourbon force. Delectable brandy saturated prunes and whisky induced black currant are livened a bit with concord traits for an ever alluring nose that bridges over to the flavor. Dark fruited wonderment interweaves with the caramelized chocolate booze, pulling out figs and dates, not to mention the glorified praline and almond eccentricity. Thick and oozing on the palate with bourbon becoming the dark Belgian recreation. Palate smacking is induced underneath butterscotch with supply dripping caramel oils. Butter, essence of creamed dates and bourbon centric caramel cubes close the show.

pours a color similar to the BCA Wheat trippel. (cloudy dark brownish red w/ a small tan head). Aroma is very smooth lightly belgian yeasts covered in bourbon w/ some subtle spices. Palate is smooth & creamy. Flavor is sweet brown sugar lots of light bourbon notes a much lighter taste than I expected but still good... the belgian component was really covered by the bourbon.
