Commercial Description:
“Bungtown” is the slang term bestowed on Benton Harbor during the heyday of the lumber trade when wooden kegs were built and shipped from here. We are proud of this bit of history, so my Export lager is in honor of that period in time. More body and flavor than a Pilsener, this golden beer also has a bit more hop character.

Pours a nice amber hue, medium haze, with decent white head that moves to a film and clings to the sides. Aromas are very light, slight sweetness, near nonexistent. Initial is malty, lightly hoppy with a more earthy feel, a bit sweet in the finish with faint citrus. A nice sessionable beer with faint bitterness on the backend.

A dark gold pour with a white head and good lacing on the glass, aroma of light bread, malt, and faint hops, flavor of light bread, malt, small citrus on the tongue, has a medium bite at the finish, some malt sweetness but ends dry, nice mouth feel, a very good drink.

Amber hue lager emitting a light biscuit malt sweetness and a moderate floral hop note. Flavors follow, with sweet biscuit/caramel/toffee and floral hop highlights. Very nicely brewed!

On tap at the brewery. Light brown with some tan head. Lots of nutty character. Clean bitterness. Medium body. Best beer on for this visit.

Anniversary Trip 2007

5/17/2007: Hazy pale amber color with a thing off-white crown and decent lacing. Average lager aroma. Bready malt with some mild, slightly spicy hops for balance in the flavor. Medium body with a smooth, soft palate. A good lager, but nothing over the top...

Draught sample (5.25% ABV) at The Livery in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Draft at brewpub. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate balanced malty and citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Light bitter flavor with a light smooth bitter finish of moderate duration.

tap at this wonderful brewery-pours golden yellow witha small white head. nice spicy hop nose with a nice backing of sweet pils malt. flavors are spicy hops, sweet pale pils malt and lots of nice lager yeast tones-very clean. could be the cleanest lager i have ever had with tons of great character. palate is full and crisp. Man, this is one tasty lager.

On tap at brewery:

Clean sunset amber hue with a small head and little lace. The aroma has notes of Vienna and biscuity malts, apple and pear, and noble and grassy hops. The taste is a smooth balance of sweet vanilla malt and flowery slightly bitter hops. A simple straight forward beer but an additional fruity note does add some depth. A nice session brew for sure, I was wonderfully surprised by this lager. That does not happen very often. A great starter beer for the days activities.
