(Draught) Pours a cloudy amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour fruit, oak, pine, and light citrus. Flavor of oak, light sourness, roasted malt, vinous, and hops (grapefruit, light pine).

FoBAB 2008, Chicago: This poured a hazy, deep amber body with a small bubbly head. It had a sharp aroma of old grassy hops supported by whiskey, oak, and caramel. It had a strong taste of alcohol, flaming caramel, a grassy hop bitterness, and an off sourness. Seems a bit confused.

FoBAB 2008: Yes, I had to wait till FoBAB to try this beer since I missed the brief moment it was on tap at the brewery. The brew is coppery and oily with a small fading head. The aroma has notes of rye whiskey, wood, vanilla, herbal and grassy hops, caramel, and some tart bacteria funk. The taste starts with a big boozy attack, very much bourbon influenced. Some sweet malt and twangy fruits noted as well. Bitter hop driven finish and a wierd spicy note too. The mouth feel is very warming and oily, highly aggressive palate. Not too bad but appears to have spent to much time in the barrel.

On tap at FoBAB. Poured near clear medium caramel with a short cap of beige head. The aroma was sweet and hoppy with grapefruit backed by caramel.. a touch of oak and bourbon surrounded as well.. quite nice. The flavor didn’t hold up as well.. spicy bourbon and sour oak laced throughout with toffee and pale malts at the core.. scratchy, oaky bitterness rode out the finish, joined by a hint of tobacco.. decent components, but they did not play very well together. Medium-bodied and sour overall on the palate with a sharp, bitter, grainy final impression after the swallow.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Fiery orange-brown body, thin, clumping off-white head. Bright citrus nose with tannic, leafy hops, pine cones, and sweet berries. Fascinating blend of sour lemon, pineapple, and vinaigrette flavors with oak, and bitter, leafy hops. Excellent beer.

On tap at the brewery. This orange ale poured with a rich beige head and tangy oak aroma. This is a blend of Curvana and Jax Double IPA. It tastes mostly like a DIPA with some sour oak notes. There is a very nice malt flavor with a little alcohol.

FoBAB 08. Hazy amber with beige head. Juicy hops. Really juicy hops. With just a bit of oak. Medium body with high carbonation and a dry oaky finish.
