thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2009 This bottled brew from a DLD beer festival poured a very large sized head of foamy off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy uncarbonated orange brown colored body. The aroma was soapy. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and mild brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Oct 27, 2008 Hand bottled by BBB63, shared by tjthresh. March ’08 tasting. Lots of pine, citrus, and floral hops in the aroma along with a caramel backing. Thick mouthfeel. Taste is spicy rye, floral hops, and light alcohol. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 17, 2008 Appearance: Pours a deep, dark mahogany body marked with a few scattered bubbles.
Smell: A blended aroma smelling of dark caramel, chocolate, soggy fruits, and savory herbs.
Taste: Dry dark caramel with a rather subdued sweetness. Pinch of bitter herbs. Moderate, earthy hoppiness. Hint of chocolate and grapefruit. Finishes dry with a lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Very, very mild carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s alright. Happy Birthday, Steve, ya big lug. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Mar 19, 2008 Courtesy BBB63. Cloudy ruddy copper color with a soapy thin even white head. Plastic grassy hop aroma, caramel, light spice, light alcohol. Nice grassiness throughout, caramel malts, slightly sour finish. A nice brew, mild flavors here, but still well done and pleasant. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Mar 16, 2008 Big thanks to BBB63 for bringing this tasty growler to Degarth’s Tampa tasting.
Pours dirty copper brown with tan head. The aroma is lively with medium roasted malts mixed with citrus, pine and pineapple hops and then some mild caramel candy. Smells great. The taste seems a bit thin to start. The flavor has initial bolts of crystal malts and pine hops. The pine hops grow in bitterness as the taste progresses along with some caramelized maltiness. The after taste leaves a sensation much like running your finger along the bottom of a nearly done sparging hop bag and then tasting it. Yum, I’ve done that a plenty. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 16, 2008 Courtesy of BBB63. Thank you, sir.
Amber colored, dark in the center, lighter on the edges....1 finger thick tan head, drip lacing, fairly lasting....nose of perfume hops, some citrus, sweet caramel malts, some citrus fruit, astringency and phenol heat....flavor profile picks up a nice citrus bite, with some piney notes to go along with the perfume type hops and sweet malts....medium bodied, slick mouthfeel, med-high carbonation....long finish, full of pine resin and perfume/citrus hops in turn....good beer.... mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Mar 15, 2008 Courtesy BBB63. Growler. Pours a dark murky brown, with almost no head. Light swirly bubbles hug the edge of the glass. Smells of sweet, juicy hops, some grapefruit, and a light malt presence. Simple smelling. The flavor was mildly carbonated, had some piney hops, grapefruit citrus, and sweet malt mixtures. The finish had a good dose of hop bitterness. Decent brew, pretty flavorful, with good balance. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 15, 2008 Growler... March 08 Tampa Bay Tasting... Murky, dark caramel-colored ale with a small, bubbly, white head. The lovely aroma is a swirl of chocolate, cashews, caramel and praline with a touch of diacetyl. Medium to full-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Tangy, bitter flavor... medium to heavily bitter and lightly acidic. Bitter, dry finish. Kudos to BBB63 for bringing the growler to our shindig!
