BBB63 (4196), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jun 7, 2008 From a fresh growler and served in Newcastle No-nik pint glass: Rich reddish brown hue with a lasting frothy beige head and good lacing. The aroma has notes of walnut and herbal esters, a bit of chocolate and plum, a hint of oak, and some dark bread malt vapours. The taste starts fruity and lightly sweet with a grassy hop twang and even a touch of rye. The finish is mildly woody and buttery (but in a good way) before a ashy and nutty aftertaste. The mouth feel is smooth and relaxing, very easy to drink with a dry finish. Quite interesting and not a bier easily classified, sort of grows on you.
