dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Jul 30, 2009 Pours a hazy orange with creamy white head, lots of lacing. Aroma surprisingly mild of citrus, herbal, and floral hops, slight malt. Flavor again is mild. There is no hop bite for a DIPA, but it is surprisingly smooth for a 10.5% ABV beer. FlssmrBrewAlum (1053), Lisle, Illinois, USA Jul 3, 2009 Poured in the sampled on tap at The Livery (Benton Harbor, MI). Pours a very hazy dark amber pour, decent offwhite head that sticks around small, films a bit. Aromas throw considerable caramel and good toffee malts at e, mellow sweetness, touch cereal with decent fruitiness and light fruity hop presence. Backend shows more crispness, good sweet and hop balance with some good flavors being thrown at me. Amazing this is 10.5% as the board says, strong flavors, but goes down fairly easy with good bitterness on the backend. EDIT - I didn’t know this was a DIPA when I drank it.. not as highly hopped, though it to be an ASA. Hmmm.. One of their top offerings that day, regardless. OSLO (825), Perth, Australia Jun 6, 2009 [On-tap at The Livery] Pours hazy brownish-amber with a small white head. Nice hoppiness in the aroma. Fruity-citrusy, lime and orange. Taste has a lot caramel, big hoppy bitterness. Good balance, although the sweetness and alcohol could be toned down a bit. Decent mouthfeel, good hoppy, dry finish. Pretty solid, but not a whole lot to say about it, as it is quite simple. shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA May 9, 2009 pours and hazy amber. earthy. fresh hops against a sweet subtle fruit backdrop. MOre centennial hops RAYBOY01 (1812), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2008 Hazy dark golden pour with white fluffy head. Nose is all PNW hoppiness...grapefruit and pine. So is the fairly robust flavor, but underneath it all is a pretty decent balance of caramel’toffee malt sweetness to support things a bit. Solid IPA. Dough77 (771), Aurora, Illinois, USA Mar 24, 2008 Solid IPA, but under average DIPA. Some descent but not over the top (in a good way over the top) hoppiness. Big malt backbone, but it just doesnt fit as its meant to. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Feb 12, 2008 Sample Hotshots Feb Indy tasting from a BBB63 growler - Aroma is caramel and earthy with strong pine and citrus hops. Pours dark brown with a medium head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is tart. Tasty brew. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 8, 2008 tap at brewery....poured a muddy golden amber brown with a lingering ivory head.....pine, tropical, and floral hops made up the aroma....flavors had a nice pine hop backbone, a creamy mouthfeel, with a bitter kick yet not bordering on the line of being too bitter.
