5/17/2007: Very black with an ultra creamy head and dense lacing from the top to the bottom of the glass. Aroma is dry and roasty as is the flavor. There is also dark chocolate and a hint of an ashy/aspirin quality in the flavor as well. Medium-full body and creamy. This is a Dry Stout that delivers on the dry!
Draught sample (4.5% ABV) at The Livery in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2007 Tap at brewery and served in pint glass: I really did not take good notes on this one, more about the conversion and the "early sample of a future release" than I was worried about note taking. I few comments I did write down include: Chocolate, rye, coffee, bitter, clean and simply smooth. A fresh "dry" stout and is so much better than the commercial beers. That is all... tjthresh (1316), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Dec 30, 2006 10 ounce pour at the brewpub. Opaque black with a creamy brown head. Strong hoppy aroma with roast and coffee. "Guiness" twang with chocolate and coffee flavors. Light body witha a dry finish. Pretty enjoyable. Tmoney99 (3618), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 11, 2006 Updated: Oct 12, 2006Draft sample at brewpub. Poured dark brown with a average creamy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy complex roasted coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted sweet flavor with a medium burnt bitter finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.
