sleestak (180), Williamston, Michigan, USA Oct 30, 2009 Pint at the pub. Pours ruddy and cloudy with a soft, fast-fading head. Aroma was malty, but lacked the yeast esters typical of the style. Flavor was a huge surprise - light caramel and roasted nuts with huge tartness. Almost tasted like a berliner weiss. Very light body and decent carbonation. Unlike any dunkel I’ve ever tried, but enjoyable. shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA May 8, 2009 pours amber. bread, nuts, earth, grain, with some tartness. very fresh and smooth. a really nice beer. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Apr 20, 2009 Aroma of soft dark malting,of the biscuity German variety, taste was also dark slightly chocolate tasting grain, with a lemony almost tart charateristic,no doubt from the wheat, like others did not pick up on banana or clove ,which seemed unusual for this style. Still a fine summer brew nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 7, 2008 Pours a watery plum color from the tap at the brewery. Plenty of malt and pepper in the aroma and flavor with a bit of grass and clove. Some banana would have been interesting but I didnt detect it. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2008 Brown pour with light wispy head. The typical wheat notes...grassy, cloves, bubblegum, pepper, etc, but also some of the darker flavors...chocolate, nuts, and smoke. Very solid beer. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 6, 2008 In short: a standard but superior Dunkel Weizen with a fruit salad bonus
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost clear amber with a small long lasting beige head.
In long: Less ripe bananas than a usually get in Dunkel Weizens, this one did have some ripe bananas but also a lot of fruit salad. As usual for the style, clove was present in the nose taste but at an acceptable low level. This is a very good beer. Medium body. Carbonation is very lively, this is a very lively Livery beer. sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 11, 2008 Tasted 4/27/08. 6oz samle from the brewpub. Hazy with a reddish hue. White ring of head. Trace perfumy nose. Caramel and grainy. Touch fruity esters. Tight effervescence. Toasty and estery. Lingering bitter finish. Lacing head. Good but not typical to the style. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 6, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with an off white head. The aroma was caramel with some light iced tea. The taste was iced tea along with some caramel. A decent brew.
