BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 4, 2008 (My #50 rated Livery beer!) Handpull pint glass at brewery: Pours a hazy unfiltered coppery hue with a small head and some lace. The aroma has notes of classic aromatic hops and a bit of resiny hops too. A hint of apple and grapefruit, biscuity malt, and earthy esters. The taste is extremely well balanced between a sharp bitterness and sweet bread malts with a light fruity background. Some hint of hop spice and yeasty notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is very refreshing and crisp with good body for the style. I really liked this batch and handpull made it even better. I finished two pint in no time, maybe the best IPA Steve has ever brewed and that is saying alot. JoeMcPhee (3815), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Mar 30, 2008 Cask at Manhattan Cask Festival. Clear amber beer with a bit of lacing. Aroma is great, nice orange peel and marmalade character, crisp Maris Otter biscuity aroma and a touch of warm earthy/woody hoppiness. Flavour is just right... UK-style IPA that the cask is perfectly suited for. Light earthy malt sweetness, soft UK Fuggle/golding character. Very nice cask. SQNfan (478), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2008 Not as earthy as the Double Paw this one showed a more traditional mix of piney and citric hops. More subdued and "elegant" but just as well balanced with malt. The palate was smooth, rich, dry and bitter all at the same time...a tough combo to pull off! notalush (2078), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Mar 30, 2008 Sampled at Manhattan Cask Fest - copper pour - aroma of pale british malts, light mineral character, and herbal bittering hops - very herbal and tea-like, with a mild underlying bitterness that compliments is well - biscuity malt underpins it all - the bitterness gets stronger near the finish, leading to a lingering herbal finish. Rciesla (891), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 4, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Amber with light tan head. ARromas was that of hops and hearbs. Sweet malt to a bittering hopped finish. My favorate at the brewery.
