Cask at TND... Appears a cloudy, orange toned amber with a small off white cap that slowly fades into a gentle head. Scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of herbal tea, light berries, and freshly cracked grain. Taste is is of the herbal tea bitterness mentioned above with a mild herbal & citrus flavor pulling through with a nutty, pecan flavor found. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, nutty, but really on the bitter side without much balance.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer 2009. Poured hazy brown color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt old ale aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Tap at brewery, pint glass: Deep amber near mahogany hue with a small fading head and minimal lace. The aroma is very roasty and bready with a classic noble like bitter vapours, hint of leather and apple esters as well. The taste is shocking in it’s clean bittering and overwhelming dryness (think chewing on a piece of bark for an hour to get the visual). Minimal malt profile except on the edges with a slight fruity presence that is quickly gone again. This is a brew that displays the characteristic of the Liberty hops quite nicely. As stated the mouth feel is soft and darn right bone dry, strangely refreshing ’cause you really want to take another sip to get some liquid back on your palate. Uniquely different for sure and unlike any beer I have tried, cheerio Steve.
