Commercial Description:
This deep red ale is named after one of Steves' favorite mandolin players, Jimmy Gaudreau, who has played with Robin & Linda Williams, Chesapeake, Bennet Auldridge and Gaudreau, and many aother notable bluegrass players. Malt is in the forefront balanced nicely by English Challanger hops.

Handpull at the brewery, Hazy brown amber with a little red tint and small biege head. Aroma is nutty, caramel and there is some slight pine. Flavor has big bittering hops with earthiness, nuttiness and off-dry caramel malt. Medium body and hand pull carbonation (or lack there of). Pretty nice red, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Tasted 4/27/08. 6oz Cask conditioned sample from the brewpub. Hazy with a reddish hue. Roasty aromas with notes of caramel and mild esters. Mild and melded. Tart and sugary. Low acidity. Slight effervescence. Caramel and cocoa flavors. Nutty and smooth. Solid brown.

On cask at the brewpub. The body was dark brown with a light khaki head. The aroma was caramel with some black tea. The taste was bready with some peanuts. There was also a light toffee note. A little bland, but not bad.

Handpull at brewery: Hazy reddish brown hue with a fading frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, biscuits, apple and pear esters, herbal and floral hops. The taste starts with twangy fruit and sweet malts with a grassy clean finish. Some light hop spice noted as well. The mouth feel is soft and sprite and a surprisingly dry finish. Not too shabby at all and I could drink more than a few of these.
