Commercial Description:
India Pale Ales, or IPA’s, were brewed for British soldiers stationed in India. These ales needed to higher in alcohol and hoppier than normal to survive the long journey, and ours is no exception. Brewed with Belgian and German malts and dry hopped with loads of Cascades, our version honors our friend who had his own grueling journey involving a boat and cold water!

On tap at the Livery 8.20.09. Pours a dull yellow with a fine wispy white head. Sweet citrus hop aroma with some notable chalky wheat. Very tasty wheat IPA, great bright citrus, grapes, lovely long bitter chalky vitamin-C bitterness. Med/light bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. One of the favorites of the night. Very similar to Founders Fest Wheat.

Cask at TND: Aroma of hops, citrus, pine, light grapefruit, and slight grass. Poured yellow in color with a small, loose, white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Tiny particles throughout. Flavor is slightly bitter. Tastes of water, hops, slight wheat, and a hint of citrus. Light to medium body. Watery, dry texture. Cask carbonation. Slight hop finish is dry but watery.

BPW #78 On tap at The Livery. Appearance is pale gold. There is a full pine/earthy hop profile with a full malt backing. A pleasant fruitiness to go aloung with it. The hops are more English in characters but tasty.

On tap at The Livery and served in a an English pint glass. Hazy straw golden pour with a thin head of off-white foam. Minimal lace. The aroma had brisk citrus (lemon, grapefruit), and light bread. The flavor was crisp and fairly dry. Pale malt followed by a moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied. Lightly carbonated. Decent.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer 2009. Poured hazy amber color with a large frothy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate sour citrus hop and small malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a drinkable complex brew.

On tap: The aroma consists of grapefruit and spicy hops with some light floral notes. It’s a transparent amber with a small white head. The flavor starts with light fruit and a hint of caramel. The finish has moderate grapefruit hops and faint spiciness. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub back in January. A nice refuge from the snowstorm that blinded us. Pours a hazed orange with a thin white soapy head. Sweet caramels that are doughy and yeasty with piney hops in the aromas. Citrus, lemon, fruity flavors next to the caramel and dough malts with a strong lasting piney bitterness that is somewhat herbal. Decent.
