Commercial Description:
Brewed in the style of Northern England, this brown is dark and rich, with just a hint of chocolate malt and East Kent Goldings hops in the finish.

From a growler. Medium brown with a thing beige head. Subtle notes of chocolate, toasted nuts, yeast. Thin and watery in the mouth. Flavor was weak notes of nuts and chocolate. Unremarkable.

Hand pump at the brewery. Brown with some big bubbles on top. Nutty and chocolate aroma. Straight forward roasted malt flavor. Pretty much a 9one note song.

Anniversary Trip 2007

5/17/2007: Brown color with a thin beige-colored veil. Chocolate and undertones of coffee, some cream, and cola in the aroma. Flavor is fruity with apple cider and caramel malt. Medium+ body. Soft, mellow, and smooth on the palate. This beer has a really nice aroma, but the flavor doesn’t deliver!

Draught sample (5.0% ABV) at The Livery in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
On tap at brewery: Murky brown with a small frothy off-white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of walnuts, caramel, EKG hops, earthy yeast esters, and a light acidic sour apple. The taste follows suit with a sweet and nutty character followed by a twangy fruit tone. A mild bitter finish and earthy throughout. The feel is watery and smooth with a dry finish. A step up from your standard brown but still not newsworthy.
