(bottle from Germany, 4.7% ABV, as Lobkow. Baron Urböhmisches Schwarzbier) Clear, dark brown colour with a reddish shine and a medium-sized, light-beige foamy head. Sweet and a bit sugary dark malty aroma with cacao and caramel. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dark malty, slightly roasted taste with caramel and pretty strong notes of liquorice, lingering into the moderately bitter finish, accompanied with notes of chocolate and a whiff of herbal hops. Nice session beer.

Bottle via trade with piscator34. Garnet-brown colour with a small off-white head. Nice aroma - roast & caramel, some sweet nuttiness, warmth in the edges. Good mouthfeel. Great flavour - starts with sweet dark sugar notes, develops some nice roastiness, a bit of nutty coffee, leading to a dry, herbal/medicinal finish. Once of the best dunkels I’ve had - very impressive!

Bottle (BB Jan 07). Bought in Germany - labelled as Urbohemisch Schwarzbier. Some roast malts and caramel. Light bodied with the roasted elements seeming to accentuate this into thinness.

Strong herbal, nutty, bready caramel aroma is well blended with a touch of marzipan sweetness. Clear amber-brown body is topped by a low, tan head that recedes to cover with some lacing. Pleasant balance between nutty and sweet malts contrasting against herbal, lightly spicy and fairly strong bittering hops. Some bready sweetness in the aftertaste. Dry light medium body with moderate carbonation that is forceful on the tongue. Tumbler. Fridge temperature. Bottle (BCLS on Commercial, Sep-06).

(Rating #623)

Nice dark pour. Some chocolate and fruit flavors, not too heavy at all, very nice drink.
