Had a mild chocolate taste a little sweet with a mild hoppy bitter aftertaste. I will definitely try this one again. eaglefan538 (2397), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2006 Right in the middle of the pack for good but not great beers. I’d drink one again, but only if not given better choices. Chocolate and carmel sweetness together with a mildly hoppy finish made for a decent and balanced beer. Would love to try this one on draft in Czech Republic. LadyCooper (100), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2006 Lovely dark amber. Nice round mouth-feel, good chocolate notes. Nice lingering aftertaste. Yum! Eructoblaster (1505), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 29, 2006 Bottle. Nice dark amber body with average carbonation and a decent off-white bubbly/frothy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with grassy notes. Taste is rather thin and lacks complexity. Leaves a short bittersweet aftertaste. Disappointing... Rastacouere (5561), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 20, 2006 A dark and grapey example that takes on the tongue with well extracted maltiness that leaves a rather sugary feel, reminiscent of chocolate covered almonds and rather fruity at that, plenty of berries and plummy notes. The pour is dark chesnut, fully carbonated and raising a decent mostly lasting 2cm head. Very airy palate, not necessarily biting carbonation, but expanding and feeling a bit thin underneath despite a certain creaminess when tongue-rolling. Easy enough to drink, but as weird as it sounds, I’d have prefered to focus on one of the dimensions (chocolatey sticky sweetness or fruity desserty flavors). Satisfyingly fresh though, best before late september. GiBrew (171), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2006 Deep brown in colour with a lasting frothy brown head. Chocolate, prune and citrus fruit aroma, notes of yeast. Chocolate and nutty flavours with notes of smokiness, very creamy mouthfeel and a very smooth finish. Thanks for the suggestion OKBeer. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2006 Bottle from Premier in Halifax. Dark brown body, with a good sized beige head. (3+) Sweet malt aroma with notes of toasted nutty malt. (6+) Flavour starts with a wave of nutty chocolate up front giving way to a dry toasty malt finish. Light metalic hints in the finish/aftertaste. Palate is on the light side but is smooth. Lacks overall depth but was a pleasant surprise for its quaffability! Lubiere (4549), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2006 Dark reddish brown with a thin off white head. Sweet doughy malt aroma, with notes of caramel. Sweet malt in mouth, with light caramel, and light burned coffee notes. A bit oxidized. Medium bodied, with some light metallic alcohol in finish. Nuttyness develops as beer warms up. BB 9-9-05. Trade from Piscator in Spring 2005.
