Mahogany brown, tall beige head, moderate lace. Sweet caramel aroma, with a little spice. Caramel malt flavour predominates, a little chocolate, and a fruity ester makes its way into the palate every now and then. Smooth, medium bodied for a lighter alcohol style, and with good balance. Very nice.

Bottled sample. Brownish red in colour with medium carbonation. Almost no head retention at all, even though it was served in a hefeweizen glass. Aromas of caramel, light milk chocolate, and dark roasted grains. A bit more chocolate flavor too, but the roasted grain / toast elements really start to take over. The body is a bit too light for the flavors that are going on. Average.

500 ml bottle. Dark ruddy brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy and rocky off-white head. Chocolate, orange, caramel, and lightly acidic aroma. Caramel, chocolate, lightly toasty flavours with a dark chocolate, earthy, and lightly roasty bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, prickly but smooth. Nice.

Deep, dark brown. Foamed over as I popped the cap off. An odd meat aroma was present. Flavour was a more recognizable raisin, nutmeg, cinnamon and dark malt medley.

500 ml bottle. Thanks to Oakes for sending me this one. My first beer of this style. Dark brown colour with a nice tan head. Head reduced to a thin layer after a couple minutes but stayed for the rest of the beer. Malt and nuts in the aroma of this one. The flavour was sweet with some hops in the finish. Good mouth feel. Unfortuniately this is another beer that I will have to go on a long road trip to enjoy again.

(500ml bottle) Purchased at the LB Store in Moose Jaw, SK, for $2.35. Pours a large, frothy, almond head with a reddish-brown body. Nose of toasted caramel and undertones of bourbon. Flavours of somewhat pronounced roasty-malts and subdued caramel and hops undertones. Good.

Deep chestnut color with a wonderful fluffy cap. Moderate head retention, laces the glass. Aromas of chocolate and sweet bread. Medium bodied...silky mouth feel...mellow, toasty-malty and slightly sweet with some slight fruit tones and a semi-dry charred finish... a very decent Czech dunkel.

500ml brown bottle. Red-brown pour, head was small but creamy, off white in colour. Orange and blood red highlights. Aroma of roasted and choclate malt, fairly light overall. Flavour is malty, some roasted malt, some coffee. Soft bitterness, slightly grainy finish. Body is light and smooth, gentle carbonation.
