Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, roasted, caramel, toffee, smoke - peat - meat notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy brown sugar sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091004]

Aug 21, 2007 Draught at BBF07 as Lobkowicz Dunkel. Very dark brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is slightly roasted with a hint of barley bitterness. Well-balanced.

Feb 7, 2005 Cherryish chestnut colour with a quicky dissipating head. Toasty, nutty aroma but hints at some unpleasantness. Malty palate with earthy-toffeeish flavours. Thin and thick at the same time- lots of unfermented sugars but maybe not enough lagering time to bring them all together into a cohesive unit. Hint of nuttiness. Sweet, earthy finish. Good, but not great example of Czech tmavy.

Mar 20, 2004 Dark brown body with decent tan head. Aroma is mild, sweet, caramel malty. Taste is medium sweet, quite caramel, with just a bit of spice. Medium body with just a hint of stickiness. Pleasant beer.

Dark ruby red color, big brown head. Chocolaty, grassy and cardboardish nose. Dry, harsh malty, light burned notes, subdued toffee flavors. Light and not very interesting - lacks hop presence.

Oct 24, 2004 Milk chocolate aroma ("koetjesrepen") with malt. Slightly roasted flavor. Hint of banana. Sweetish, creamy with a chocolate aftertaste. Fine dunkel, clean and tasty.

Pours deep brown with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Aroma is sweet, lots of caramel with some light roasted notes. Medium carbonation, fine, dry, mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet - a bit too much, even. Caramel at first, some sugary notes and then a good, dry, chocolate, hoppy finish. It is very sad that there is that initial overly sweet sugary note - otherwise, it would have been great.
