Opaque dark brown with decent standing head. Strong burnt toast aroma. Smooth beer with a sharp roasted flavor, perhaps just a tinge of chocolate. Good winter lager.

It’s been a while, but this was an outstanding beer when I tried a six pack of it. The only place I’ve been able to find it was at an AAFES exchange at McDill AFB. Tastes in beer styles differ from person to person, so if a Czech/Vienna style amber lager suites you, make sure you grab this beer if you ever see it. Heavy malt flavor yet medium bodied. Nice balance with hops the way only only Germanic people seem to know how to do. Beautiful copper color and creamy head, what a memory of a fine beer.

I’ve always been a big fan of Czech beers...and this was no let down. You hear people talk about German lagers and Irish ales...but Czech beer seems to be short changed. I can’t think of a bad Czech beer that I’ve tried. And after drinking Baron I still feel that way. This is a great dark lager. It’s not terribly dark....but it’s good. It’s some what sweet..with a nice touch of roastiness to it. This is a very drinkable and beautiful beer. Czech beers seem to have th most animated carbonation I’ve seen....but maybe I’m just nuts. I’m sorry...but the carbonation is something special in these beers....it always amazes me. Has anyone else experienced this???? This is really a great brew though. Hail to Czech beers!!!

I’ve only had a few dark lagers, but this is certainly in the A-class. Many have been flavorless and straightforward but this packs quite a bit of rich character. Dark thickish looks and creamy head are promising. A dry roasted coffee nose follows through in a palate that is creamy but refreshing. Maltiness holds up well whiel finish is long and roasty.

Deep reddish- brown with sweet malty aromas with notes of toffee and dark fruit. Substantial blend of roasted malts with hints of cocoa and coffee. Starts with a silky sweet texture then dries nicely in the end. A great beer to have with dessert. Worth getting again.
