georgekessel (68), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 2, 2008 Bottle; Beautiful dark deep brown color with a medium dark caramel head (started large but fizzled down very quickly). Very smooth malts and a pleasantly wet finish. Thank goodness it was NOT HOPPY!

Pours deep brown with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Aroma is sweet, lots of caramel with some light roasted notes. Medium carbonation, fine, dry, mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet - a bit too much, even. Caramel at first, some sugary notes and then a good, dry, chocolate, hoppy finish. It is very sad that there is that initial overly sweet sugary note - otherwise, it would have been great. cgarvieuk (2601), Edinburgh, Scotland Jul 21, 2008 Bottle at home ... deep brown ... sweet grassy toffe malts ... molasis ... little yeasty bit artifial sweet DruncanVeasey (1802), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Jun 26, 2008 Bottle from Munich. Cola brown pour with an impressively persistent beige collar. Complex aroma mingling toffee, prune, heady apple fruit, molasses, soap, Bovril, delicate menthol-like hops. Raisiny fruit, yeast extract and caramel predominate in the mouth, opening sweetly but drying out with Twiglet and cocoa. Teetering right on the border between dunkel and schwarz. Either way, a tasty and well-conditioned offering. thepegjett (52), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Mar 9, 2008 Dark beer with a caramel aroma. Bitter chocolate flavor with a smooth mouth feel.
I enjoy this beers full flavor and plan to go to the Czech Republic to have it there. TheJester (510), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Feb 3, 2008 500 mL bottle. (Best before June ’08). Ruby/chestnut in colour with a small, thick, persistent brown head. The aroma is dominated by brown sugar, with a little bit of spice underneath. There is some burnt toast, some old, dark chocolate, some caramel, and some cardboard (?) in the flavour. Medium body and carbonation. I don’t have much expertise with this style, but this isn’t a bad beer.
