omhper (10901), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 27, 2007 Updated: Mar 1, 2007Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark ruby. Intense frity nose. Very sweet with lots of dark plums. Medium bodied with dense soft mouthfeel. Very salty finish. oh6gdx (6416), Vaasa, Finland Mar 20, 2007 Cask. Copper colour, small white head. Aroma is berries, fruity hops and some slight wooden hints. Flavour is wooden (oaky), fruity hoppy and slightly of apples. Pleasant, but not very special. harrisoni (5474), Ashford, Kent, England Feb 11, 2008 Cask handpull, Pommeler’s Rest, JDW, London. Chestnut colour with thin beige head. Some rather nice fruit and malts with a sour edge. Lovely old style ale. Good roasty dry malts and then this sour finish is excellent. MesandSim (4583), Highgate, Greater London, England Mar 27, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Mid amber brown with no head. Big fruity malt and marzipan with some slight sourness and bacon fat. I can’t help but feel this should be pretty decent but the standards at this particular JDW are so low the beer struggles to be on its best behaviour. Magicdave6 (4088), London, Greater London, England Jan 8, 2008 Cask in counting house. This is much an old ale as my piss is, i mean why say a traditional old ale with hoppy aroma, you trying to contradict yourself you silly silly beer! Aroma was minimal pale and caramel malts, darker fruits. Taste is peppery hop richer malts, notes of spice, but uninspiring.
