beerbill (1243), Laurel, New York, USA Oct 29, 2007 Sampled at GWBF 2007. Poured from a 750 ml bottle a beautiful purple red with no head. This is a still mead. Very strong aroma of raspberries, along with some honey. Raspberry was also the dominant flavor quality, again with a supporting role from the honey. Not at all sweet; semi-dry is a good description. Lightly dry at the finish, and perhaps just a tad thin. austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Nov 24, 2005 I was surprised at how thin this was for a mead. The alcohol seemed well hidden, but it reminded me of a wine cooler rather than a mead. I’m really eager to try the Long Island Meadery’s Traditional Mead when it’s released in early 2006, and am hopeful that brew will hew closer to my expectations for the style. notalush (2009), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA May 4, 2005 Pours a rather dark red, with considerable legs - strong aroma of raspberries, alcohol, well-aged port and some spice - mildly sweet cherry up front, with a gradual swell of tart raspberry, finishing like a medium-dry red wine - a bit thin, but dangerously drinkable for something of such high alcohol. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Apr 23, 2005 Brewtopia ’05. This was nice, not much honey but a good mix of sweetness and tart raspberries. Sweet, but, this was a mead. hopscotch (4433), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Apr 18, 2005 Bottle at Spring Brewtopia 2005... Crystal clear, raspberry colored mead. Smells like black cherries. Tastes a bit medicinal and alcoholic. Watery mouthfeel at first and then drying alcohol steps to the forefront. Too fruity for me. Too White Zin-like. I’m not into this flavored mead thing. Maybe you are. Might be worth trying.
