Commercial Description:
This full bodied amber ale is modeled after the "altbiers" of Dusseldorf, Germany. Our top fermenting yeast and cold finishing temperature result in a complex, yet clean, full flavor.

(Bottle (stamped "101007") from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/ target=blank>Downeast Beverage Co.) Pours clear slightly brownish amber with a fairly tall biscuit head. Aroma of egg, vanilla, brown sugar and light hops. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, lightly prickly. Light, broken rings of lacing. Flavor is pleasantly malty - brown sugar, vanilla and egg - but is weak in comparison to expectation I got from the aroma. Light bitter pinch towards finish with maybe some very light notes of licorice and tar. Not too bad really.

Pours a totally fogged in gold with no head after it sits for a short while. Nose is kind of airy thin with a touch of mild orange. Extremely faint pine hop character comes through after it sits for several minutes. Flavor is odd for this style I think. Orange citrus is fairly heavy on there. Slight salt there. Hop influence, yes, but overall fairly mild. For some reason the flavor profile and feel remind me of a witbier. Feel is sticky on the liquid and good with the bubble on the tongue. Overall it is drinkable for sure due to the smooth experience it delivers. Nothing flavor fantastic, but still well made.

Fruity, almost floral nose with nice smooth mouthfeel. Taste is relatively typical, nice tasting hops and well balanced malt. Yummy.

12oz bottle, bottled 10/19/07. Poured orange amber, with a moderate sized white head that slowly dissipated. Mild aroma; primarily sweet malt, with a hint of citrusy hops in the background. Clean, sweet malty flavor with some mild hops coming in towards the finish. Long, biscuity finish. Overall, a refreshing and easy to drink session beer.

12 ounce bottle, pours an amber color, a little carbonation with a little white head. Wheaty, nutty, smooth, but not a fabtastic beer. It was ok.

Dark Amber with little head. Wheat aroma with a little banana. Very carbonated. This is a decent beer for social drinking.
