Oct 15, 2005 Nice amber, as poured from bottle. OK aroma. I liked the flavor a lot - the malt with a bit of hops works well. Nice lacing as you drink. This is an ale that I would like to have on hand as a house beer.

Oct 14, 2005 I love the Long Trail brews. The Long Trail Ale has a medium body with nice flavor. Very good beer especially on tap.

Oct 13, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with jah noth, thanks Dan!) It’s been eleven years since I last had this beer, and while I didn’t like it too much back then, I’m liking it much more this time around. Amber in color, fully clear, and topped by an off-white head that settles to a wide ring. It smells mildy malty and sweet, fairly nutty and lightly hoppy. The flavor matches the nose, but the nuttiness really comes out in the finish, and reminds me of a British ale. Light-medium bodied and fairly clean. Pretty good, but not good enough to make we want to get more bottles.

Oct 3, 2005 Pours amber with a small white head. Smells peppery with some rosey elements. Tastes of citrus, pepper and spice. Bitter finish. Watery mouthfeel.

Sep 18, 2005 Bottle from Lou18. Pours a crystal clear, Medium amber color with a tinge of red/orange. Decent white head forms and remains as a layer and ring, leaving good lacing. Aroma is malty dominated and fairly sweet. Medium bodied. Palate is a bit soapy. Malt flavor predominates with little hop balance. Perhaps a bit of sharp and spicey hops at the finish. Fair.

Sep 16, 2005 This ale is not particularly impressive, yet is refreshing in its own right. I actually had the first beer off of a freshly tapped keg, which may have effected the brew. It was light and yeasty, with a hint of lemon. Not much head to it, yet a nice creaminess to the texture. I will probably have this beer again, simply because it was so refreshing.

Aug 29, 2005 Updated: Dec 13, 2008[draft at MacGregor’s - Rochester, NY] Amber color with a nice white head. Very well balanced aroma and flavor, both having a nice malty sensation underneath a floral hoppiness. Slightly spicy finish.
