Commercial Description:
This full bodied amber ale is modeled after the "altbiers" of Dusseldorf, Germany. Our top fermenting yeast and cold finishing temperature result in a complex, yet clean, full flavor.

Nov. 22, 2005: 12 oz. bottle. First experience with this brewery (or with an "altbier"), and I’m having a hard time getting a handle on this brew. Beautiful copper color; malt at the forefront, and a lingering, almost-sour hop bitterness. Not unpleasant, but it may take a bit of getting used to . . . may re-rate after I’ve had a couple more.

Pours orange-amber into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes to skim surface. Caramel malt aromas. Sweet caramel upfront, crisp and dry in the finish.

Bottle... Poured clear amber with a white head that faded quickly. Had a faint, leafy malt aroma. Foamy texture with berry flavors, caramel-sweet malt and a little of a bitterness in the finish.

I had this on tap in Bar Harbor, ME It left a lasting impression on me, hence the good rating. Nice yellow / amber color. good head. basic brew that I could drink all night.

Bottle pours a golden body with a white head. Butterscotch toffee feel but then a bunch of toasted malt and a simple German pils/lager simple mouthfeel. eh.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright ruby-caramel color with a large orange-tan head. The aroma was sour, tangy and malty but not particularly noteworthy. The flavor was sour, bitter and tangy with a light fruity undertone and a hint of caramel. The finish was rather short. Basic.
