Commercial Description:
Light, crisp and refreshing, Blackbeary Wheat is modeled after the spontaneously fermented "Lambics" of Belgium. Real blackberries added to the fermentation contribute a subtle fruitiness to this Summer Quencher! Available May through August.

It poured clear and pale yellow with a big, tight bubbled pure white head. Light bodied, even for a wheat. It had a slightly effervescent mouthfeel. Just a hint of berries, just a hint of malt. Not much hops. Refreshing, thirst quenching, thin almost watery.

12 oz. Bottle. Pours a crystal clear straw yellow with some white head and soapy lacing. The aroma is almost sour with blackberry highlights. The flavor has sour blackberry and then nothing. Very little body, almost water. Not my choice of beers.

On tap at Willimantic Brewing. Clear, light straw with a big, fluffy white head. Sweet berries (blackberry and raspberry) and mild wheat in the nose. Very light body. Somehow, the flavor does not match - it’s more of a Crunchberry flavor. Odd, but OK.

I’m surprised so many people Don’t like this beer. I find it’s light taste and body are great on a hot summer day. The wheat leaves the beer crisp and dry and the natural, fresh blackberries are subtle and not too sweet or artificially sweetened. My brother and I use this as our "Fishing Beer" because you can drink them all day long(Not to be attempted with Double Bag, however!)

12oz brown bottle. Light yellow crystal-clear body with a quarter inch of white head. Smell hints at blackberry. Tastes like blackberry with hints of diacetyl and malt. Flavor is kind of weak though, slightly watery. Light watery mouthfeel with some carbonation present but not too much. Fairly drinkable thirst quencher, but nothing special...

Bottle. Poured golden yellow, little head. Aroma of berries, but as others have said, not much in the way of flavor. Good for a hot day, I guess.

I hated this beer. I was struck right away by how light the color was when poured. The aroma of blackberries was nice, but the flavor wasn’t there at all. It tasted like beer blended with water. Never buying it again.
