Light, crisp and refreshing, Blackbeary Wheat is modeled after the spontaneously fermented "Lambics" of Belgium. Real blackberries added to the fermentation contribute a subtle fruitiness to this Summer Quencher! Available May through August.

(12oz bottle, courtesy of mar) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, artificial sweetener, and somewhat candish. Flavor of wheat and light fruit syrup with a watery mouthfeel.

Pours golden yellow with a weak creamy head. Smells of bread, blackberries, and some of the usual suspect present in a weaker lager. Tastes of blackberries with a decent tarte finish.

12 oz bottle. Extremely pale golden colour, thin fast-fading white head. Sweet candyish aroma, blackberry/blueberry with a bit of lemony citrus. Reminds of blueberry Kool-Aid which isn’t really a good thing. Thin-bodied, very dry and bland. Flavoured water more than beer. This is to lambic as an Ikea desk is to a tree.

Pours pale gold with medium, creamy white head. Aroma of blackberries, some malt and hops. Tastes malty, with slight corniness, and slight blackberry flavor in the finish.

Solid, but not spectacular or even really memorable. Could use more of its namesake flavor, if you ask me. Aroma kind of nasty out of the bottle; let it sit for 5 minutes. Also a bit bitter on the palate to start, but this should smooth out after a few moutfuls. 8/6 revision: I was a bit too kind to this beer on first shot; really rather bland and palate just above that of PBR or Michelob. 7/4/02 revision. Bad mood punishing myself by drinking crappy fruit beers. Uggh. Nose indeed gets better as it warms; but do you want to taste it warm? Not horrible if drunk moderately cold, but like most of this brewer’s beers avoidable unless you (like me) must try all of your home-states libations.

Swet, simple blackberry aroma is appealing. Pale golden body with thin white head that diminishes to thin cover. Good carbonation. Mild blackberry fruit flavour in a pretty middle of the road american wheat beer. Mouthfeel is rather watery and that detracts from overall enjoyment more and more with each sip. I don’t really see how this is modelled after a Lambic. Bottle.
