I loved this one had nice coffee overtures with hints of chocolate and vanilla. At under $4 a 22 once bottle this is one the best buys out there. BlackForestCO (828), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Bottle thanks to j12601. Poured a thick, deep brown color with a 1/4 inch, bubbly tan head that slowly faded to a ring. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, a bit of chocolate, and a light green character. Smooth, moderately sweet entry with some chocolate and a moderate roasted malt character transitions into a moderately dry, coffee-laden finish that lingers a bit on the palate. Low carbonation and decent mouthfeel. The green earthy character in the nose does seem to detract from the enjoyment a bit, but overall it possesses some good qualities that just need to be matured a bit. Wouldn’t call this an imperial stout. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Pros: Appearance is great. Dark color with a long lasting tan cream.
Cons: Nose is pretty green, and doesn’t have a lot of coffee or malt nuance. Mouth feel is very thin, almost watery. Flavors are plentiful and well extracted, but seem incomplete and out of balance. Too dry, needs more sweetness. Flavor needs more vim up front. Not a great beer. MrBunn (1554), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Bottle from goldtwins. Pours a dark brown with a big tan head. Aromas are heavy with coffee, roasted malt, a touch of smoke and a little cocoa. Flavor is interesting in that it is a little sweeter and creamier than I expected. The coffee is there, but it doesn’t come across as the strongest and boldest imperial stout. That said, it is darn fine. Alcohol is there, but doesn’t stick out or get in the way. mreusch (743), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Bomber, with thanks to 46er3498! Pours a dark brown with a minimal tan head that lingers. Aroma is freshly brewed coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and nuts. Flavor is roasty malts, light coffee and chocolate and more nut. I agree with Margaret that this is in between a regular stout and Imperial. I found this to be an enjoyable stout, although was hoping for a bit more coffee influence. Thanks again Tom! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Brewed in the USA....... Pours black in color with a thin off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla and mild chocolate. Taste has a mellow coffee flavor with some chocolate notes and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is lite at first but finishes with a slightly bitter edge to it. Overall, This is a very pleasant brew to drink, but i must add that i feel it being called a coffee stout is very questionable. LilBeerDoctor (1530), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a small dark chocolate head. Aroma of roasted malt, a hint of roasted nuts, and some bitter chocolate. Flavor is mostly sweet roasted malt with slight bitter chocolate. A hint of coffee, but not coffee-rich. Palate is in between a stout and imperial stout. A little too sweet for me. Certainly Long Trail’s best beer but it doesn’t compare to some of the top coffee stouts.
