| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2009 a coffee and smoke flavored brew with a small and shy light brown head that doesnt fully form. slick and oily looking it is otherwise a pleasant slightly acrid stout that is full flavored and refreshing but not in any way over powering as these type of brews have been doing with regard to flavor. never the less a full flavored alcohol wine/cognac type flavor develops after some minutes left in the glass that is clearly superior in character therefore my o.i rating of 16. the type of brew to debate about as it some times feels a bit watery. more smoke in the aroma than taste. daknole (2973), Plantation, Florida, USA

Has a really nice coffee flavor, reminds me of a good italian coffee. Some chocolate notes are evident. Very nice coffee beer indeed! Haslinger (649), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2009 on tap at the InnComplete. I didn’t think it smelled strongly like coffee. Less than I expected but what I did detect was good.
Taste was deep coffee and some bitter hops.
Good would buy again Burrobuns (81), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2009 Bottle. Aroma is kind of disappointing - basically just burnt coffee beans. It is a fairly pretty stout, which I appreciated. Flavor is well balanced but underwhelming. The coffee flavor dominates, but is not really that strong - something I appreciated. However, the rest of the notes are understated. Hint of dark chocolate. Basically no finish to speak of, which is really disappointing to me in a stout like this. I would be happy to drink it if someone offered, but I will not go out of my way to try again. jimhilt (1687), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

Light-medium carbonation and heavy bodied. Coffee/oak ash nose. Flavor is roasted coffee and some sweet oak. Smooth. Decent imperial stout - Long Trail’s best so far $5.79 for a 22oz bottle from Concord Coop Concord, NH.
