Sampled via 22-oz bomber during Dark Lord Day ’09 at table 3. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissolves to a thin off-white ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee and a touch of molasses. Taste is smooth, thick, low carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malt, chocolate, a touch of tart berries, sugar and coffee. Finish is smooth, creamy with a slight coffee aftertaste and black malt flavor.

22 oz bomber. Pours a pitch black with a medium sized brown head. Aroma of light roasted malts and coffee beans. Taste of roasted malts and bitter coffee beans.

Thanks to GoldTwins for throwing this in a trade. Pours dark with a strong coffee aroma. Flavors are a little tart, with coffee and chocolate.

Pours dark with some off-white head. Aroma of coffee and some baltic, and that’s what the taste is about, coffee, fairly smooth and flat, joined by some baltic. Big hit at latest holdiay tasting. Bitterness there and not extreme.

22oz bottle from a recent trade...pours an oily black pour with brown edges and a swirly light tan head... somewhat of a sour coffee arouna and dusty chocolate malt... assertive coffee flavor, oily texture, tadbit sour and bitter finish. prickly and well-carbonated which it could have used less off.

My Bottom Line:
This cushy Imperial Stout’s generous coffee infusion provides plenty of roasty espresso flavors when paired with its chocolate malts, ending up in a nearly dry, tobacco finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the blackness.
-Alcohol is very well hidden.
-Some caramel is also perceived within the roasty coffee.
-Like their new Double IPA, I found this to be more drinkable than I expected.

Bottle.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark oil black color with a thin brown head. Aroma is rich and roasted with lots of coffee flavors. Flavor is incredibly roasted and smooth. Lots of roasted coffee notes with a bit of cream. The alcohol is well hidden and blends very well. Smooth and lightly bitter. Really nice.
