Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissolves to a thin off-white ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee and a touch of molasses. Taste is smooth, thick, low carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malt, chocolate, a touch of tart berries, sugar and coffee. Finish is smooth, creamy with a slight coffee aftertaste and black malt flavor. adrian910ss (1424), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2009 22oz bottle from a recent trade...pours an oily black pour with brown edges and a swirly light tan head... somewhat of a sour coffee arouna and dusty chocolate malt... assertive coffee flavor, oily texture, tadbit sour and bitter finish. prickly and well-carbonated which it could have used less off. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This cushy Imperial Stout’s generous coffee infusion provides plenty of roasty espresso flavors when paired with its chocolate malts, ending up in a nearly dry, tobacco finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the blackness.
-Alcohol is very well hidden.
-Some caramel is also perceived within the roasty coffee.
-Like their new Double IPA, I found this to be more drinkable than I expected.
