| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Pours a dark chocolate body with a creamy tan head. Nose of toasted grains and toffee. Palate feels slightly oily up front but there is a crisp dry finish that I love. Flavors are mild and build as the beer warms. Rich toasted grains, pecans, toffee, cocoa powder and nice leafy hops. In fact I would say that the hops really build the back bone of this beer, giving it that dry bitter finish and shoring up the tendency of sloppy roasty oily mundaneness. That dry finish really warms up the toffee and nutty notes, delish. yobdoog (1491), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
