Shared at the Houston RB Tasting in October. Pours black with a thin, light-brown head. Nose is of chocolate and coffee. Taste is of chocolate and coffee as well. Mouthfeel is medium. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 23, 2009 Bomber, bottled on 1/19/09. Poured very deep, rich brown with a short, but well-retained cap of not-quite-as-dark brown head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolates and building, moderate-roast coffee accented by a little coffee hull and oak tartness and some vanilla.. tangy and warm, especially on the back.. well-balanced. The flavor had semi-sweet roasted coffee at the core with sour overtones (some woody notes like the nose, but a little vinegary character too).. chocolate, more coffee, and vanilla rolled off the back onto a long finish.. warm, but not hot. Medium-bodied with quite a bit of carbonation on the palate.. the malty base felt good, but the sourness (although not that strong) was misplaced. Very solid overall. ericandersnavy (1038), crossroads, Texas, USA Oct 22, 2009 bottle thanks to zinister. poured a dark brown with a tan head. aroma was dark roast, coffee, dark fruits, and chocolate. flavor was dark roast, licorice, and chocolate with a medium body. bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 19, 2009 Bottle: pours dark black with a thin tan head, aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt, taste is chocolatey with a nice bitter finish which I assume comes from the coffee, medium full mouthfeel.
