From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a blurb about the altbier on the neck label and a unmarked bottled date on front label. Made a good appearance, poured a clear amber hued copper with a large foamy, sticky white head that settled into a thin bubbly lacing, decent carbonation. Had a toasted malty nose with butterscotch and toffee, a little earthiness and a floral hoppiness. A buttery, semi-creamy medium bodied mouth feel, very good drinkability. Toasted grainy malt taste at first, a sweet buttery caramel, a little mushy banana, a gentle rolling earthy hop bitterness, a slight alcohol presence on the tongue and a dry toasted grainy finish. I wish this was available in Illinois, a very nice Altbier, acquired in a trade with fellow BR JahNoth, many thanks!!

Bottle courtesty of Muzzlehatch. Pours dark copper with a diminishing off-white head. Very slight port like aroma, along with some citrus. Nice bold malty flavor balanced by bitter and herbal hops. Light and spicy bitter finish, along with flavors of caramel and brown sugar. Thanks for the pleasant surprise Barry.

My favorite of the Long Trail ales, which really isn’t saying much. Pours a golden orange color with a small white head. Aroma is fruity with a grape like smell. Flavor is also fruity with raisin and maybe pear (not exactly sure what that flavor is). Mildly hoppy, and the alcohol is hidden pretty well.

12oz bottle. Glden orange hue. Spiraling off white head. Raisins and citrus, berries and sherry nose. Lively and smooth. Slight alcohol burn and dry bitter finish. Sugary sweet and nice port palate.

The name Double Bag is not distinct in its origins but, if I had to guess, it would refer to the usual requirement to take home one of the people you might pick up after having a few of these. This is a very potent brew, and you would hardly know it. It pours a medium amber color with an average, frothy light-brown head and a clear body. Aroma is of light hops, with distinctive grape and pear scents. Initial flavor is a light bitter taste that finishes smooth and creamy, with light to medium body on the mouth. There is a slight alcoholic feel at the finish.

Good beer that tastes good to my palate. Very solid example of the style. Drinking this snowed in at the Amerisuites in Mystic, CT. Too bad I don’t see more Long Trails in PA.

very nice sweet floral hoppy aroma. flavor is some malts some floral grapfruit/citrus and nice hop finnish. great beer for a warm winter night or on the porch in summer.

Pretty thick, texture and taste are mud like, but in a good way. It doesn’t taste great, but the aftertaste is good, so you’re tricked into drinking more, but then you regret it. I kind of like it, but I’d never buy it again
