Nose is of Munich and other German character malts. This beer is full on the palate, tasting of the aforementioned malts, with a long, sweet finish that is malty without being cloying. Overall, a well done strong alt. BroSpud (612), , Massachusetts, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2009 I don’t even get it. The bar next to CBC says it’s a double IPA, which I knew immediately was a shameful description. Amateur nose, rosey ASA body with no lasting finish. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a dark clear amber with a 2 finger beige head that results in delicate lacing. The nose is heavy caramel malt and earthy hops. The taste is caramel and toasted toffee with a nice resin finish. Medium mouth feel. Good beer. Thanks Brian! PolishHammer (64), , Connecticut, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Not overly complicated, but nice. Alcohol very well hidden. Not much of an aroma at all. A bit buttery and nutty flavor, with a definite german lager taste at the back of the throat...NOT a hoppy back-of-the-tongue bitternes at all. It actually cut through the vinegar in the saurkraut I was eating pretty well. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Bottle in trade from ROBORB. Thanks man! Pours a clear amber with short lived cream colored head. Smell is an interesting sweet maltiness that comes across like it will be nutty, and overly sweet perhaps. Taste is more balanced than the nose would indicate, but still leaning malty with an interesting sticky sweetness to the flavor, a mild dosing of floral hops to balance in the middle and then it finishes with caramel like malt and doesn’t leave a sweet aftertaste. Tastes much better than it smells, and is really a nice, enjoyable beer. Medium body and carbonation and no presence of alcohol in the flavor. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA

Received this is a recent trade with israel, thanks again! Long Trail’s Double Bag fills the glass a perfectly clear amber with orange highlights throughout the glass. Carbonation rises from all over the bottom of the glass. The off white head grew to two fingers on the pour and after a few drinks settled to a solid cap leaving chunky lace lines behind. This is a very good looking beer.
The first thing that’s hits me in the aroma is the nuttiness from the malt. There’s a touch of floral hoppiness floating around in the background and a nice addition of caramel throughout that adds to the nuttiness. There’s a ghost like alcohol presence just sort of gliding through here and there.
The flavor follows the aroma fairly closely. A malt driven caramel and nuttiness lead the way allowing the floral hoppiness to rise and fall throughout. The hops even show a touch of citrus on the tongue. The alcohol is a little more pronounced in the flavor then the nose suggested but overall this is a good beer.
The mouthfeel of this beer is the standout point. Double Bag is luxuriously rich and creamy right off the bat. The body slides through without a problem. The only thing keeping this from getting a 5 is that it seems to get a little light in the back of the throat and a little heat is present.
This is an easy enough beer to drink. It’s a good beer but just seems a little dull. I would happily drink a few in a sitting but the abv could catch up rather easy after a couple more.
This is a solid alt from Long Trail. Although alts really aren’t something I drink all that often this was an enjoyable beer. I wouldn’t mind giving this another try if I had a couple more. Thanks again Israel.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 16, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy, amber body with no significant white head and minimal lacing. Has a sweet, robust, malty smell with some bitter and alcohol notes. Has a pretty robust, malty taste with some nice toffee notes and a slight bitterness to the beer overall that was complimenting of the sweet malts. A medium bodied, fairly smooth mouthfeel that was pretty nice on the palate. A nice mouthfeel and taste combination made this beer very drinkable and good overall.
